Biscotti are really easy to make, and with most of the ingredients being pretty common in the typical household, they're also quite cheap! On top of that, you can substitute the vanilla and almond for most any flavor and add-in you want (like maple/walnut or vanilla/chocolate chip). This should make around 24 or so cookies.

Tools you'll need:
  -Two bowls for mixing, one medium and one small.
  -An oven!
  -Baking sheet lined with parchment paper (or a suitable replacement)
  -Wire cooling rack

Ingredients
  - 1/3 cup (80ml) Vegetable oil
  - 2 Eggs
  - 2/3 cup (135g) White sugar
  - 2 tsp (10ml) Vanilla extract

  - 2 1/4 cup (270g) All-purpose flour
  - 2 tsp (10g) Baking powder
  - About 1/6 cup (25g) Sliced almonds.

Method

1) Preheat your oven to 350 F / 180 C

2) In a medium bowl, beat together the oil, eggs, sugar, and vanilla extract until well blended. In a separate, smaller bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and almonds. Stir the flour mixture into the oil mixture until it forms a heavy dough. (Add more flour if it's still a little soupy after mixing)

3) Unless you dig going for the adhesive swamp-thing look (I won't judge), dust your hands with flour, and divide the dough into two, roughly equal pieces. Form each piece into a roll and place it on the parchment-lined baking pan (it should be the length of the pan, and look vaguely like a raw baguette). Press each roll down to about half an inch (1.5cm) thickness.

4) Bake for about 20 minutes, until golden brown. Remove them from the oven, and let them cool on the wire rack. When they're cool enough to handle, slice them width-wise by about 3/4 inch (2cm) each.

5) Place the cookies back on the baking sheet, cut-side-up, and bake for about 6-8 minutes, then flip each cookie over, and bake for another 6-8.

6) Enjoy with coffee, or a lengthy discussion about your general state of ennui!

I know I voted for savory, but these sound yummy and not hard to make, so I might have to try them (once I'm done recovering from my recent orthopedic procedure and don't have to use a walker when I'm in the kitchen). Thanks for sharing.

Oh, I'll be doing savory, too ^^ I'd mostly wanted to know which type to start with - I'd like to alternate between the two each time. With the short ingredient list, this one doesn't take too much effort to put together - the hardest part is rolling out the dough~

You could still give it a shot, though :3 I actually edited the original recipe to make them much harder to burn, so it's pretty resistant to mistakes~

Oh, you can replace the almonds with most anything, or leave them out entirely.
