I remember that this was what it originally looked like before it became StarFox Adventures for GameCube.

Yup! I have Nintendo Power magazines from E3 2000 that talk about Dinosaur Planet, then later at E3 2001 mentioning that plans had changed and that it would become StarFox Adventures: Dinosaur Planet. Disappointing looking back now, but I enjoyed SFA and played it while working on this piece. It's not a bad game, but wasn't what it was intended to be.
I'm just surprised how much DP content is out there. Nearly all the games voice work, several songs and jingles, an hour of gameplay, etc.

True they were talki.g about it for the 64. But with GameCube coming out it was a smarter an to go better and you've seen how Krystal went with that series. Though it would have been nice to have seen the StarFox 2 game on SNES that was only in Japan. Then Fara Phoenix might of made a hit in the game series than from the comic.

Yes I'm an old gamester ;3

Shortly before Miyamoto decided for it to become a StarFox game, Rare had made the decision to hold off and wait for a Gamecube release, so a lot was going to change either way. But I continue to hear/see a lot of mixed thoughts on Krystal. Furries generally like her and non-furries use that as a reason to hate her, and her inclusion in the series still doesn't seem to be a good fit considering how events unfolded in command where several endings have her leaving the group to join Star Wolf or become a bounty hunter.
But I think Fara would have been a great inclusion and a better counterpart as she was always part of the universe.

while i can't really say the SNES was /before/ my time, I never owned one until 2008, I went from NES to N64.
But i plan to get around to beating the original Star Fox and the StarFox 2 ROM when i get the chance.

Lets put ot this way. I was 4 when NES came out and was later given the other systems up SNES till I bought the others ones. There are always gonna be haters of certain characters too. Krystal is kinda a either a weak female or a strong one when others feel like it. Most just use her a a porn reference but the series otself was great up to a point when they made many annoying things on them. In 64 I would usually let Slippy die so I wouldn't hear his whining.

There are many games that Nintendo and other systems made great. And yes it's also in the eye of the beholder too. Some games are great and get better most of the time and there are games where your saying OMFG what were they thinking!!! I would like to say that most but not all are fun to play and are there to enjoy. Did you evr play any of the Castlevania series?

And thus began Nintendo's idiocy.

Why did they have to mess with it?

Miyamoto thought Sabre looked like Fox McCloud, and a Starfox game wasn't currently in the works. they also wanted to "play it safe" using an already established I.P. rather than a new one.

Yes, I know the story behind Dinosaur Planet. I'm just asking who on Earth would think interrupting a dev company that created mostly memorable classics and smash hits was a good idea? Just let Rare do what they were doing and have them make a Starfox game after Dinosaur Planet was finished. Don't shoehorn a space mercenary into a world of magic and mysticism unless you plan on going full 40k. Most importantly, don't EVER throw out a developer's work and tell them to start over with a license they weren't working on in the first place. All that accomplishes are needless delays and an overall sloppy product.
