Heart of Calabria
A timeless and beautiful ballad about the doubts and despairs of the wolf at heart in a world of narrow-minded humans.

This was the first major song I made with midi sequencer, using an Alesis Quadrasynth Plus Piano. I still have that thing in the attic, and it should have the setting for the song still saved... if it still works. :)

Release date: Jan 8 , 1999

Lyrics
Verse 1
Alone in a world meant for others
You stand, forsaken by God.
You howl but nobody bothers.
They smile and distantly nod.

For it's true, inside you're not like them,
Not happy with playing your role
And though you wish truth would strike them
You hide from them heart and soul.

Refrain
Who could you ask when they lack understanding?
Who could you tell that you're not of their kind?
More than just human shape, not only hairless ape.
What could they find inside your mind?

What should you do when others turn against you?
What to believe when all they know is hate?
Could your belief be true? Is there a wolf in you?
What is your fate at heaven's gate?

Verse 2
Keep the lie, do all to preserve it
For they say, alone you are strong.
The pain, they mean you deserve it
And claim that you don't belong

For deep inside they all fear you,
Superstitious and scared like a child.
Selfrighteously deaf, they can't hear you
And nor hear the cry from the wild

Refrain

Coda
Open your mind, let it flow in
And your dream comes true.
One of a kind, free from sin.
Feel the wolf in you.

Cry out your tears, let them come through
End of all fears, life is true.
One of a kind, free from sin
For the wolf is you.

🌟 Hey there! I just listened to "The Wolf in You" by Chama and felt compelled to share my in-depth, detailed critique and criticism with you. So let's dive in! πŸŽΆπŸ”

Firstly, I'm captivated by the evocative and introspective lyrics that masterfully convey a deep sense of isolation and longing for understanding. The narrative of being different and not fitting in is something that many can relate to, and Chama has portrayed it beautifully. πŸΊπŸŒ’πŸŽ΅

The verses skillfully explore the protagonist's struggle with their identity, capturing their yearning for acceptance and truth. Chama's vivid imagery, such as "You howl but nobody bothers," powerfully communicates the protagonist's frustration and solitude. 🌌🐺

The refrain is an emotional powerhouse, posing heart-wrenching questions that encapsulate the protagonist's internal battle with their perceived otherness. The powerful message of self-discovery and embracing one's true nature adds depth and resonance to the song. πŸŒ πŸ€”

Now, let's delve into some constructive criticisms. While the overall structure of the song is engaging, introducing some variation in melody or tempo between sections could create a more dynamic listening experience. Experimenting with different vocal styles might also help to further emphasize the emotions portrayed throughout the lyrics. πŸ“ˆπŸ§

The coda is a triumphant finale that brings the song's theme full circle, celebrating the protagonist's journey of self-acceptance and self-discovery. The repeated affirmation of "One of a kind, free from sin" conveys a sense of empowerment and liberation, leaving listeners with an uplifting and hopeful message. πŸŒ„πŸŽΆπŸ’₯

In summary, "The Wolf in You" is a deeply moving and thought-provoking song that explores themes of identity, self-discovery, and acceptance. It is a powerful reminder of the importance of embracing our true selves, regardless of societal norms or expectations. Keep up the amazing work, and I look forward to hearing more of your creations! πŸ‘πŸŽ‰
