Chapter 4

SNAP!

by the kzx

"No, that was just the check.”
“But what about those breath mints? I’m tellin’ ya, that guy thought you were a famous person!”
“Tay, when the waiter said he wanted my ‘autograph’ he was just asking for my signature.”
        “Breath mints!”
“They give those to everyone.” Izzy said, half-annoyed. As the twins walked out of the restaurant, she was still consoling Tay on the situation he completely misread. Izzy had paid for the dinner with her gift card and the entire signature part of it threw Tay for a loop. “It’s not that hard to figure out; haven’t you ever watched Daddy pay for dinner with a card before?”
“I can’t always watch Daddy do everything!” Tay said as they crossed back out to the cold, night air. Izzy bundled up closer to Tay, clinging to his arm again.
“Brrr… it’s so cold outside still…” she said, still smiling.
The two walked a little way further down the river walk, sometimes ducking into stores to see what they sold there. Seeing the theatre’s bright sign coming up, Izzy wanted to slow it down; in typical dates, as far as she knew, they usually ended right after the movie, right? She wasn’t sure.
“Tay, let’s slow down some; the movie can wait.” she said gently, laying her head on Tay’s shoulder.
“I guess so.” he muttered, looking around. He didn’t seem to be in a big hurry anyway. Nearby, there was a big open shopping mall-looking place with lots of shops. There was a photobooth tucked in a corner. “Tay, look! A photobooth! Let’s do it!” Izzy exclaimed, pointing again. Tay looked at her weird, stopping in his tracks.
“You wanna do it in a photobooth?” he asked. Izzy eyed him seriously.
“Of course not, Tay. I mean let’s go in and take some fun ‘couple’ pictures!” she said, pulling him towards the booth. “It’s something couples do!”
“Yeah, I guess they do, huh?” Tay said, shrugging. The two kids piled into the booth, closing the curtain.
“Okay, so… oh! Lookie here! We can pay with a card!” Izzy said, reaching in her pocket and pulling the gift card out, swiping it. The large touchscreen displayed a wide array of options. “Okay, so, what kinda pictures d’ya wanna take? We could do a sketchy one, old-westerny one, an old-timey black and white one, or–”
“We could totally have sex in here.” Tay said bluntly, interrupting. Izzy flushed and hit him gently.
“No, Tay, that’s crazy. We’d be caught for sure!” she said, still looking at options.
“No, there’s a curtain!” Tay said, reaching across his sister and tugging at the curtain.
“That’s just a thin piece of fabric! You can almost even see through it! Tay, don’t be dumb.” Izzy said, smacking at his mitten-covered paw. She picked the regular picture set with hearts surrounding them. “This one is cute and simple.” Izzy said, selecting a few more options. “Okay, not a bad price for 8 pictures!” She looked at Tay, who was still eyeing the booth they were in like he was planning something.
“It would be like a comic strip of us having sex!” Tay blurted out, not paying attention. Izzy hit him.
“Tay, c’mon; you’re 9, not 6. Now, hug me and smile!” Izzy said, hitting the last option, watching the timer count down. SNAP!
First picture was a smiling Izzy hugging Tay, who had no expression aside from staring at the camera with his mouth open, probably inquiring something. SNAP!
Second picture, Izzy had turned her head and was kissing Tay’s cheek. Tay, just about aware of it, was eyeing his sister. SNAP!
Third picture, Izzy arguing with dumbfounded Tay. SNAP!
Fourth picture, Izzy clearly explaining wanting a kissing photo to Tay, not having it. SNAP!
Fifth picture, Tay holding up his paws and doing a sex signal to an impatient Izzy. SNAP!
Sixth picture, Izzy holding Tay’s face in her paws, yelling at him. SNAP!
Seventh picture, the twins hugging, smiling. SNAP!
        Eighth picture, the twins kissing.
“Hey, that was fun!” Tay could be heard saying as Izzy retrieved their picture strip. She sighed, both happily and angerly looking at them, but was ultimately left with a smile. Turning to Tay, her strip clutched to her heart, Izzy handed Tay his copy.
“This is the happiest night of my life.” she said, kissing Tay. Tay returned the kiss and soon they were kissing hard. ‘We can’t kiss hard, Tay!’ Izzy thought, ‘We’re in public!’ Tay’s paws wandered down the girl’s shoulders and chest, prompting a soft relaxation from Izzy. She threw her eyes open and pushed Tay away, whispering, “we can’t do that here!”
“izzy, c’mon. people do dirty things in public all the time!” Tay harshly whispered.
“i don’t want dirty, tay! i want romantic!” Izzy responded. Oh, but she wanted him anytime, anywhere. But she knew what would be at stake if they were caught. Tay leaned in again, kissing her neck.
Just then, a knock on the cabinet of the photobooth. Izzy froze, but Tay continued. Another knock.
“tay, don’t you hear that?! stop!” Izzy said, pushing her brother away. Tay pushed in and continued.
“Go away! I’m trying to have sex with my girlfriend!” Tay said aloud. Izzy just about died. Oh, my god, Tay, you did NOT just say that outloud!
“How long until your process ends?” The voice was familiar to both twins. They both stopped, staring at the curtain in vain. The voice had a slight lisp to it and it was female. The twins finally looked at each other.
“i know that voice!” Tay whispered.
“it’s only got one tone to it!” Izzy responded, fixing her hair and glasses and Tay’s as well. Izzy finally opened the curtain to reveal their friend Ilsa standing, staring, unmoving. She wore the same kind of thick, woolen coat and boots as she always had. Her long blonde hair was up in a back-side ponytail, held together with a little log barrett, as usual. But this time, Izzy could see something different was ON the little log; it appeard to be a blue rose. Ilsa’s big eyes behind her bigger glasses were wide in their stare at the twins crammed into the tiny booth. She had a cherry sucker in her mouth, accounting for that slightly gurgly lisp she was known for.
“Ilsa! Hi!” Izzy said. Ilsa raised her paw at Izzy’s face, pointing, causing the dingo girl to lean back a bit into Tay.
“Isabelle, it is 9:10, on January 15th.” she said, in monotone. The twins looked at each other then back to the tiny lamb girl.
“So, it is, heh…” Izzy nervously chuckled.
“Soon, it will be 10:10 and a month from now will be February 15th.” Ilsa said, lisping around the cherry sucker. The twins, as usual, didn’t know exactly how to deal with her. They sat up more as Ilsa lowered her finger.
“Yeah… so, what’s up, Ilsa?” Tay asked. Ilsa finally broke her stare from the twins to the outside frame of the photobooth cabinet.
“I need the booth.” she said, eyes then returning to the twins, “I need pictures.” The twins started to get out of the booth, pocketing their photo strips.
“Just… by yourself?” Izzy asked, watching the little girl crawl into the booth.
“Yes. I need to make sure I’m not behind myself. Or walking up behind myself.” Ilsa said, utterly confusing the twins.
“Okay, well, we were gonna head out and–” Izzy started.
“Hold up!” Ilsa said, closing the curtain. The twins stood there waiting for Ilsa to take about 4 pictures. The curtain finally opened. “Now it’s dark.” the lamb girl said, exiting the booth, handing Izzy the other copy of her photostrip. The strip had 4 identical pictures of Ilsa just sitting there, staring into the camera. Izzy chuckled nervously, smiling.
“I had to be sure.” Ilsa said, loosening up some on her stance, one paw in her pocket, the other taking out the cherry sucker. Izzy thought she even saw a blink or two.
The group walked some, Ilsa on the side of the secret couple. They didn’t talk… at all.
“So, Ilsa, what brings you out to Rivertown tonight?” Izzy said, trying to drum up some conversation to ease the awkwardness. Ilsa looked over at Izzy, sucker back in her mouth.
“Was just making sure of something.” she said, glancing around. Even when more relaxed, like this, Ilsa’s eyes were still wide-staring. Did she know something? Something about her and Tay? Well, Tay DID just blurt out trying to have sex with his girlfriend, and Izzy happened to be the only girl with him when he said it! Izzy panicked a little. Ilsa might now know! But… but it’s Ilsa; she’s never exposed a secret… right? She decided to speak up.
        “So, we’re kinda wanting to–”
“Lemme make sure of something else.” Ilsa said, stopping her walking. The twins stopped a step beyond her, looking back. Ilsa stared at Tay, walked over and grabbed his arm, clinging to it. Izzy felt her body shudder. Was this anger?
        “Ilsa, what–”
“What does this make you feel, Izzy?” Ilsa said, staring at Izzy. Izzy tried hard not to let her feelings escape. ‘What do I care?’ Izzy thought, ‘It’s just Tay, my brother…let… let go of him, he’s my Tay…that’s my boyfriend!’ Izzy just laughed, blushing.
“Well, don’t, uh… don’t cut off circulation to his arm, haha!” Izzy mustered. Ilsa stared for a bit longer then let go, walking away from the twins.
“If by the blessing of the universe…” the lamb girl whispered, trailing off. Soon, she was gone from sight. The twins looked at each other with faces of confusion, shrugging. Izzy dug her own 8-picture photostrip out and looked at it. She smiled. This was already her favorite possession ever.
“This was so cute and fun…” Izzy said. She turned to Tay. “Let’s do some more!”
        “Some more what?” Tay asked.
“Couple pics! Let’s take fun and romantic couple pics with my phone!”
“Eh, we can’t show those to anyone, Iz.”
“Of course we can’t, Tay! It’ll be just for us. C’mon, it’ll be fun!” Izzy said, pocketing the photostrip and pulling her phone out. Tay smiled.
“Heh, okay. Let’s do it!” he said.
The twins went around to different locations and posed, Tay holding out Izzy’s phone to take ‘couple selfies’ and pictures of Izzy looking out over the water, even a few times asking shop employees to take cute, romantic pictures of them together, kissing, holding paws, looking lovingly into each other’s eyes. By the end, the twins were walking slowly down the riverwalk, holding paws, Izzy’s head on Tay’s shoulder, both smiling.
“This is the best night of my life, Tay.” They stopped and looked out over the water, which the path had put them high above to where you could see the romantically-lit areas surrounding the river below and the dotted skyline of downtown Sugna in the darkness above. They leaned against the railing there and held each other in a perfect moment.
As they walked to the theatre, a light fall of snow began. Izzy could barely contain her heart melting as she felt this was the most romantic thing ever. They passed several glowing objects with the theatre’s logo on it.
“Hey, automatic ticket machines. Let’s buy our tickets here, Tay!” Izzy said, breaking from Tay and looking the machine over.
“Hey, it takes cards!” Tay exclaimed, pointing at the swiping slot. Before Izzy could complete her visual scan of the movie times, Tay was just about one tap away from purchasing tickets… 4 of them… to yet a different horror movie!
“Tay, stop!” Izzy yelled, blocking his paw and tapping CANCEL. “How did you…?” Izzy asked, standing between her brother and the machine. Tay produced the gift card and smiled.
“I can buy us tickets, Iz!” he said. Izzy looked angry.
“You almost bought us tickets to something we can’t see, Tay! 4 tickets! How’d you get the card?!” she asked.
“It was in my pocket; you put it there in the photobooth.” Tay said.
“Why would I do that?” Izzy asked, exasperated.
“I dunno; you weren’t even looking when you did it. It was just before the pictures were being taken.” Tay explained. Izzy figures she absentmindedly slipped the card into Tay’s nearby pocket instead of her own as they were just so crammed together in that booth.
“Just hold on… I’ll use an app, okay? I’ll handle it.” Izzy said, pulling her phone out. When she opened it, she saw that there was a bunch of new messages on her FurFace account. She tapped the little bouncing red number over the FurFace icon and saw that there was a bunch of likes and comments on a photo she posted about 15 minutes earlier, from this phone.
Puzzled, Izzy clicked on the photo posted: it was a picture of her and Tay kissing in front of a sign to a storefront before the riverwalk. All the likes and comments were on that post.

Twins are 9 years old here.

Alternate universe story of Tay and Izzy discovering each other as preteens. Stands completely alone from "Into A Tizzy."

Just getting back from vacation. This is now switching from both twins' perspectives, but it's separated by gaps in the narrative, so, don't worry. But when it's not, it's most likely Izzy's perspective.

Photostrip: https://inkbunny.net/submissionview.php?id=796379

Warnings:
-Cub (preteen)
-Incest

Have fun and enjoy, I hope!

Soooooo much can go wrong with smartphones these days, glad to have a simple cellphone that does just what I need to do, text and call, yeah it slides open to give me a QWERTY style keyboard so texting is easier, but that's all I want a cellphone for anyway.
