A Big Problem

As Zen slept he once again found himself in the room he had first met Black. The room however seemed to be empty. Standing from his chair Zen began to explore the room. There were no doors and no windows. Finally looking up Zen spotted a figure standing on the ceiling. While this figure was just as dark as Black it was much smaller. The figure spoke. Its voice was somewhat feminine. Darn you spotted me. I was hoping you would be wondering around for a bit but I guess this is a small room. Zen tilted his head. Who are you? Where is Black? The figure did a small flip off the ceiling landing on its feet. Up close the figure looked similar to Zen. The only differences were that the figure was pure black and had large wings coming from its back and a small pair of breasts.

Well you see Zen I am black. I was thinking a change was in order. The whole demonic beast look wasn’t working for me. Zen’s mouth hung open for a moment before he was able to speak. Holy crap you’re a girl? Black only laughed. I really don’t fall under a gender category. I can be what I want when I want. I think that’s why my kind don’t have names. We have forgotten our true forms. But enough about that. We have ourselves a problem.

Zen couldn’t think of anything that could be a problem. Things were going really well. He may soon have a new father. He was learning about magic. Also school would be starting soon. What kind of problem could possibly matter now? Black put his… or rather her hands on her hips. Look Zen this is serious. Your seal is coming undone and I can’t seem to slow it down. At the rate its breaking down your seal will fail in about a week. Zen gave a confused and concerned look. What will happen when it fails?

Black sighed well for starters you will get all your memories back. Both good and bad. From what I have seen of your life… its mostly bad memories. As bad as that is your powers are what gives off the red flags. Without the seal in place, if you were to lose control like last time… Zen’s eyes went wide. What do you mean like last time? Black sighed again well you are going to find out anyway so I might as well tell you the story.

Well I guess we would start where it all started. You were abducted from your home at the age of 1. The people that abducted you were a bunch of crazy dark mages that wanted to take over the world. They had a crazy idea to try and make a door between the demon world and your world. Their key to doing this was you Zen. Huh why me? What can I do that could make a door? I am getting to that Black said before continuing. Okay from what I understand, you can absorb energy of any type and change it into another type of energy. You can also store a large amount of energy within your body. How those twisted mages knew you have this ability I cannot say. Now this ability of yours is what they needed. If you were to absorb enough energy and convert it into magic energy you could in theory make a door to other worlds. Now again you were abducted when you were 1 year old. The twisted bastards then strapped you in an electric chair and hooked up to a high voltage line. This was their way of force feeding you the energy for their plan.

You were kept in that chair for a full year. That is when they put you into a magic circle made for summoning. This is when you summoned me. Seeing your power made me want to stay by your side. That is why I made our contract the way it is. In a way you are my master. Zen looked surprised. He then smiled, no we are friends. Since we are literally stuck together we are close friends. Black laughed for a moment. I suppose your right. Might as well make the best of things. Moving on with the story. After our contract was made life became a living hell for us. The mages wanted to test the limits of both our powers. They would cut you up just to see if I could heal you. That is why you are covered in scars. However that is not what you wanted to forget so badly. What happened after 3 years of that living hell is the reason you wanted to forget everything.

It happened about a 9 days ago. On that day you started having pains threw out your body. While pain was nothing strange, the pressure you felt was different from anything you had felt before. You tried to get help from one of the mages but they just pushed you down and kicked you away. At that point you just curled up into a ball and tried to wait the pain out. The pain however only increased. This went on all morning. By noon you could no longer stand the pain. You were screaming and asking me to help you. I was doing what I could but I couldn’t figure out what was wrong. That’s when your energy spiked. You screamed louder than any living thing I have ever heard. Everything disappeared in white light. Nothing could be seen for a long time. Once the light faded and you could see again you were no longer in a town or rather the town was no longer there. You stood in a 10 mile crater. Nothing was left. No people no buildings nothing.

Zen’s eyes were wider than they had ever been. He looked at the ground. I killed those people? Black shouted NO! THOSE STUPID BASTARDS KILLED THEMSELVES. Quieting down a little she continued. Messing with power they knew nothing about. Trying to force you to do their dirty work. They were playing with matches in a house made of dynamite. Things would have blown up in their faces sooner or later. It’s just bad luck that you wound up being the bomb.

Getting back to the reason I wanted to talk to you. I think I can make a seal that will be able to hold you power better. Only thing is we will not be able to seal your memories. Zen sighed I shouldn’t have tried to forget in the first place. Things like that don’t wash away. Black grabbed Zen’s shoulders and shook him while shouting. IT WAS NOT YOUR FAULT! GET THAT THROUGH THAT THICK SKULL OF YOURS! Zen looked down again Sorry…. DON’T APOLOGIZE YOU HAD NO CONTROL OVER THE SITUATION! Zen started to cry a little. Stop shouting. Black stepped back looking at the floor. Sorry about that. This whole thing just makes my blood boil. She took another step back before sitting on the ground. What’s the plan? Zen fell to his knees still crying. We have to fix this. I don’t want any more people to die.

Black gave a heated sigh. We will need to find a safe place to remove your current seal and place the new one. Zen finally started to calm down a little. We will need Chaotic’s help. Black nodded. Yes I was thinking the same thing. He would likely know of an area that we could use. Black then crawled over to Zen and put one of her wings around him. Don’t worry, as long as we have each other there is nothing in this world we can’t do.

Zen sat there for a moment before everything started to go dark. Just before the room vanished Zen heard Black say, talk to you soon. Zen opened his eyes and he was lying in bed. He sat up and was met with the ray of light through the blinds of the window. He thought to himself for a moment how long was I asleep? He then slid his feet out from under the blankets and down to the floor. Standing up he started to walk out of the room. His mind went back to his dream. One week? Will I be able to find a safe place before then?

Walking a short distance to Chaotic’s room Zen knocked on the door. The door opened with a creak. Zen poked his head inside to find that Chaotic was not in his room. Shrugging Zen made his way toward the living room. The house was silent. Zen walked into the kitchen and went to the back door. That is where he spotted the red wolf he was looking for.

Chaotic was in the back yard working on some new magic circles. Hearing the door open he turned to Zen with a smile. Good morning. Did you sleep well? Zen nodded before looking down. Um we need to talk. Chaotic was somewhat puzzled by the pups change in character. Where had the smiling kid from yesterday gone? Alright Zen, Chaotic said as he dusted his hands off and walked up to the house. What do we need to talk about? Zen looked up for a moment before looking down again. There are some things about me I need to tell you about. You may not like what you’re about to hear… Chaotic laughed. I told you yesterday there is nothing that’s going to scare me away. Zen tilted his head up slightly closing one eye before asking. What about a demon? Chaotic gave a confused chuckle. A demon?

Zen took a deep breath shaking a little. Yes a demon. I have a demon living in me. His err her name is Black. We have a contract. She has helped me seal my powers. If my powers are not sealed people could be in danger. The seal that is holding my power is failing. I only have a week to find a good place to replace the seal.  I have to fix this. I need your help. Slow down there Zen one thing at a time. Your making my head spin. Zen started to cry. I don’t know what to do. I don’t want anyone else to die.

This is getting us nowhere Black said. I need to talk to him. Zen think you could switch with me? Zen made a confused face. Switch with you? Ya just let me take the lead for a minute. How? Just close your eyes and relax. It’s going to feel weird. Zen closed his eyes and tried to relax as best he could. A dark vail started to come over Zen’s body. A moment later all of Zen’s fur looked jet black. The vail had also taken the form of wings sticking out of his back. Black was now in control of Zen’s body. Giving a slight shiver Black opened her eyes. They were glowing brightly. Man that feels weird. Not used to this at all. She looked at Chaotic before extending a hand. Hello there. I’m Black, nice to finally meat you face to face.

Chaotic was at a loss for words. He had never expected to see a demon manifest itself right in front of him. Let alone from a 5 year old boy. Tilting her head to the side black chuckled. What’s the matter, cat got your tongue. The only word Chaotic could come up with was how? Well my red headed friend that’s a story that took all night to tell Zen. I really don’t want to repeat it. Let’s do it the quick way. Blinking back the confusion Chaotic asked, what’s the quick way? Black gave a big grin before replying. It’s simple really. Just give me a kiss. Zen shouted before Black could explain further. WHAT DO YOU MEAN GIVE YOU A KISS? THAT’S MY BODY YOU’RE USING! DON’T GET ANY FUNNY IDEAS. Grabbing her head Black shouted. Stop yelling and let me finish. Chaotic tilted his head. Zen was yelling at you? Black nodded. Ya he keeps shouting something about a first kiss. Flinching a bit more Black continues.

Anyway about the kiss. I am able to share my memories with you trough lip contact. Think of it as mouth to mouth telepathy. Instead of spending hours explaining our situation you would know in a matter of minutes. Okay let’s say this ability is real. How would I know the information was true? I mean you are a demon aren’t you? Black glared at Chaotic. Zen is my master. I will do whatever it takes to protect him. With that said Black jumped up and grabbed Chaotic by the face. She then kissed him on the lips making his eyes go wide. For a moment she just hovered there locked in the kiss before pulling away and landing on the ground again. Wiping her lips she nodded. That should do it. Alright Zen I’m switching back now. With that said the black vail vanished and Zen was left with his pure white fur again.

Zen looked at Chaotic before asking if he was okay. Chaotic just stood there eyes wide as if he were watching horrible things happen right before his eyes. Moments later his eyes were full of tears before he looked at Zen. Chaotic quickly pulled Zen into a hug. How could they do something so horrible to you? Zen returned the hug and started crying. Thanks a lot… I thought I was done crying. Chaotic pulled back wiping the tears from his eyes. Sorry I couldn’t help it. That’s a lot to take in all at once.

I can think of a few places around here where there is no one around for miles. That would be perfect to do what you need to do. The only problem is getting there. Hmmm I should walk down to the dealership and get a car. We could be at an old gravel pit in a couple of hours. Looking at his phone Chaotic sighed. The dealership won’t be open for another 5 hours though. Since we have time why don’t we go in the house and eat some pizza. We can talk about what our plans will be after we fix that seal of yours.
