A Chaotic Fun Time.

Planning the next 3 days seemed to be a challenge for Zen and Chaotic. To start it was decided that the two of them should get to know each other better.  This would be done while they ate breakfast. With Zen’s lack of memories Chaotic decided to start things off. Let’s see where to start. First off I have been practicing magic since I was able to walk. When my family was still around they owned a large computer manufacturing firm. Sadly they died 8 years ago in a plane crash. I can’t help but wonder what things would have been like had their trip been canceled.

In more recent events I moved to this town about 2 years ago. I wanted a fresh start. I felt my life was going in a dark direction so a major change was in order. For the last 2 years I have been doing work on this house. Sadly I am not the best carpenter so the place is still far from perfect. Zen looked around for a moment before commenting that the house was great. It has a certain charm to it. Chaotic could only laugh. I have always wondered what it would be like to start a family in a house like this. He looked a Zen with a smile. How would you like to become a part of my family?

Zen could only smile. He hadn’t thought of this as one of the outcomes after coming to this house. This was perfect. He didn’t need to worry about where he would live. For a moment Zen forgot all his troubles. This was short lived however as reality pierced the happy thoughts in the pups head. His head slowly tilted to the floor as a sad expression fell over his face. You may not want me after you know everything about me Zen said. This only made Chaotic chuckle. What do you think you have some secret that could scare me off? Fat chance kid not much in this would could scare me.

Zen looked up for a moment before saying, how about a boy that has both boy and girl parts? In Zen’s mind this is where he was going to be rejected. Chaotic however never lost the smile on his face. He put his hands on Zen’s shoulders and knelt down to look him in the eyes. There is nothing wrong with that now is there? You are a perfectly healthy kid save for a few lost memories. Zen was somewhat shocked. He had never expected anyone to so quickly accept him for who and what he was. His thoughts drifted to his demon friend briefly. He wondered if he should tell Chaotic about Black. For now however he would keep that to himself. He didn’t want to ruin the happy moment.

Zen gave Chaotic a hug before stepping back to allow the larger wolf to stand up straight again. Both of them had smiles on their faces again. Now with that out of our way why don’t we go outside and have a little fun. Chaotic led the way to the back door. Heading outside there were a few odd things about this yard. First there were some strange circles marked out in stone all over the yard. The stones used for each circle were like the ones used for a stone walkway. The patterns in each circle were very different. The second thing in the yard that seemed a bit odd were some stone statues. They had burn marks all over them. Some even had hole in them.

When Zen asked what all the things around the yard were for Chaotic’s only reply was “Magic”. Zen tilted his head to the side. He looked around the yard again. Nothing about all the things in the yard seemed all that magical. Chaotic chuckled to himself before explaining. The circles are used to amplify magic. They are good for learning new spells. Also they can help you learn ways to better use a spell you already know. When using the type of magic I have learned you normally need to select an “activation word” in order to cast spells. You however seem to be the exception to that Zen. I believe you can cast spells just by thinking about what you want to do. Zen looked at Chaotic with a confused expression. What do you mean?

Chaotic scratched his chin. Let’s see if I can make this simple. Remember when you went running into the woods. You wanted to get away fast right? Zen thought for a moment before agreeing. Whatever you were thinking at that time activated an enhancing spell. Oh I get it now. It’s like when I wanted to find you and when I looked around I saw your red glow. Chaotic’s eyes went wide. That’s 3 types of magic now. Healing, Enhancing, and now Sensory. Zen once again looked confused. I used sensory magic when I saw your red glow? Chaotic chuckled before correcting Zen. It’s not called someone’s glow. You saw my aura. Not many people can see them ether. Zen tilted his head again before saying well then I must use magic all the time. I always see people’s auras. “Pointing at his left eye” that’s what this eye sees.

Once again Chaotic’s eyes went wide. He had never met anyone who had such an ability. Sure he had met a few mages that could see auras after casting a spell. This was quite a shock. Normally someone who can use spells to see auras could only use the spell for a short time. It would take a large amount of energy to keep such a spell active for long periods of time. Do you get tired when you are around a lot of people Chaotic asks eagerly? Zen thought for a moment. The most people he had been around were the others at the orphanage. He never noticed getting tired around them.

Well enough about that for now. Let’s get to the fun I talked about earlier. Why don’t you step into the enhancing magic circle? It’s the center one of the 3. To your left is elemental magic and to your right is sensory magic. Zen stepped into the circle and felt a strange tingle over his whole body. He turned and asked if there was a circle for healing magic. Of course. I however have never tried healing magic. That’s why I currently do not have a circle made for healing. Oh is all Zen could say before the circle he as standing on began to glow. Chaotic couldn’t believe his eyes. Here was someone with no knowledge of magic activating a magic circle. The seal on Zen’s belly was also glowing. It was shining straight through his t-shirt. Zen looked down before questioning, is that normal?

Now that Chaotic could see the seal clearly he could tell just how powerful it was. In order for someone to have a seal like that and be able to still use magic… the thought was terrifying. In all his studies Chaotic had only seen that seal once. It was a seal meant for out of control arch mages. Those who had mastered all types of magic and had lost all control. However to have this seal in place and still be able to use magic of any kind was unheard of. Just how much power could such a small boy hold.

Shaking the thoughts from his head Chaotic answered that he didn’t know what was normal for Zen. Since this was really a trial and error magic test, there really wasn’t anything normal about it. Chaotic began instructing Zen on how to use enhancing magic. Let’s try something simple. Try and remember what it was like wanting to run fast, only this time try to make yourself strong.

Zen closed his eyes and tried to focus. He kept repeating in his head “I want to be strong”. Slowly the tingly feeling in his body began to focus more on his arms and legs. When he opened his eyes and looked at his hands they were glowing like the circle. Looking down at his feet he saw they were also glowing. Zen looked over at Chaotic. What now? Chaotic had his mouth wide open in shock. He never expected Zen to be so quick to cast. In fact he didn’t think Zen would be able to cast anything without learning about each spell first. Zen tried to take a step but everything went blurry. He felt himself hit something hard. Shaking his head he realized that he had hit the fence at the other end of the yard. Looking back at Chaotic all Zen could say before falling over was “ouch”. Thankfully this time Zen did not pass out. He lay on the ground in a daze for a moment before Chaotic rushed over. Are you okay? That was some crash. I should have warned you before we started.

Zen shook his head before sitting up. He looked himself over for a moment before smiling. Nothing broken, everything feels normal again. Chaotic gave a big sigh of relief. Let’s stick to magic that won’t throw you into a wall. Zen gave a little laugh and agreed. Since we know you can use sensory magic why don’t we see if you can use elemental magic. Zen walked back to the circles and stepped into the elemental magic circle. Once within the circle it began to glow. He had that tingly feeling again. The enhancing circle had a slightly yellow or gold glow to it. The elemental circle had a more orange or red glow to it.

Chaotic began his instruction once again. Alright for this it will be the same as the other circle. Think of what you want. In this case let’s keep it simple. Think of fire. Zen closed his eyes like he did last time and thought “I want fire” the tingly feeling started to move towards his right hand. It also began to feel warm. When he opened his eyes he got a little startled. His hand was on fire. The fire didn’t burn him though. It was an odd feeling. Chaotic had a look of worry and asked if it burned at all. Zen shook his head. It actually feels kind of nice. Chaotic laughed. Normally when someone uses fire magic they tend to make a fire ball or throw fire in some form. Normally you would not start your hand on fire. Zen stuck his hand out pointing his palm at one of the statures in the yard and asked “like this”? As he said that the fire in his hands gathered into his palm forming a small ball. Once the ball was fully formed it shot out and hit a statue on the head. Once contact was made with the statue the little fire ball expanded. It grew to the size of a car. It stayed there for a few moments before going out.

There was nothing left of the statue but its feet. The fire had been so hot that it scorched the other statues as well as all the grass. Zen shrugged while looking at Chaotic. Oops that was bigger than I thought it would be. Chaotic staggered. He had never seen anyone do such strong magic in their first attempts. Zen however was now getting wobbly legged. His stomach was starting to hurt. He walked out of the circle just before falling over. Thankfully Chaotic was right there to catch Zen. Looks like we over did it. Let’s get you inside so you can rest. Besides it’s about lunch time anyway.

Chaotic carried Zen into the house and put him on the couch in the living room. He then walked over to the phone before turning to Zen and asked pizza okay? Zen had fallen over on the couch the moment he as placed on it. Pizza sounds good. Will we have to go out to eat it? Chaotic gave a grin. Nope they deliver. Zen gave a sigh of relief. Awesome I don’t think I could have walked anywhere. Before Chaotic picked up the phone the biggest question of the day came up. What should we have on our pizza? Zen sat up part way and scratched his chin. I like anything really. Chaotic sighed. That’s not much help in the decision making process. Oh ok then Zen chimed in. I’ll make it easy. I will eat anything as long as it has no fish on or in it. How about an all meat then Chaotic suggests? That sounds yummy Zen replies. It’s settled then. I will order 2 large all meat pizzas. 2 pizzas Zen questions. Yep I am going to be lazy today and tomorrow morning. 2 pizzas should be enough for lunch, dinner and breakfast.  Sounds good to me Zen replied.

It took around 30 min for the pizzas to arrive. Chaotic placed paper plates out at the dining room table. He then poured 2 big glasses of milk. With the table set it was time to eat. Zen despite his small size had a huge appetite. He ate over half the first pizza by himself. Chaotic was amazed. Where did you put all that? You got a hollow leg or something? Zen kicked his feet back and forth with a grin. Nope bottomless pit. This caused both of them to laugh. Now that our bellies are full what should we do to pass the time?

Zen put a finger to his chin before suggesting that they watch a movie or watch TV. Alright let’s go see what they have in the on demand movies. After browsing for a good 5 minutes they found an animated film that they thought would be enjoyable. Zen had gotten a quick burst of energy after eating but that quickly faded. Not even 20 minutes into the movie he was fast asleep. Chaotic figured this would happen. He got up turning the movie off. Zen had used so much energy earlier that it was no surprise that he was tired. Chaotic went to the room that Zen had picked out. He put fresh sheets and pillows on the bed. After the bed was ready Chaotic went back to the living room. He picked Zen up and Zen wrapped his arms legs and tail around Chaotic. Giving me a challenge I see Chaotic said with a chuckle. Walking back to the bedroom with Zen in arms Chaotic truly did have a challenge. How to get a clingy cub put down without waking him? With some effort Chaotic did manage to get Zen into bed without waking him. As soon as he was in the bed Zen curled up hugging his tail. Have sweet dreams Chaotic said wile patting Zen’s head.

Zen wound up sleeping through till morning the next day.
