Chucky

It's best this stays in the dorm. A confrontation between Merry and Jenny would be FUG-LY.

Dave and Kitchy can find a girl for anyone. Let them help you, Chucky.

I'm a GM. I LOVE it when my players ask that question.
Winterfeline
9 years, 4 months ago
That question is just an invitation to take off the safety and let the world of pain unleash the worst it can do on a person.

Hope that Chucky wont end up regretting voicing that thought out loud, but will have to see. Honestly, it is that sort of comment that could really end up being regretted if he remembered he was dumb enough to voice it out loud later when things take a new downturn and realize he had actually asked for it. That is just looking for trouble after all, don't paint devils on the walls or whatever way that saying goes.

that kinda happened to my char tonight actually... managed to avoid any traps the gm set, asked self that question, then entire party walks into the trapped rooms, all all traps go off, almost tpkd the party(thankfully no one died...)...me: fml ;w;

and then the luchador monk runs off by himself, triggers the boss by the lake, and he "might" survive, but he is royally fucked if the party dosent get there soon...

how much damage did i take the whole session?...14, from a breath weapon potion

how much did i take from the traps?...none! xD...after the rogue would open a door, i would sneak in to the safe zone after each trapped zone, then made it to the lake area.  ill have to find out what happens next in 2 weeks... :/

Is it wrong to say that we GM's get a bit of sadistic glee when we pull off a TPK? What game do you play? I run RoleMaster 2nd Ed. I still think that my usual reponse to the question of what is RM like handles it best. I just call it D&D on steroids. RM has the most realistic damage system of any FRPG out there in my opinion. [It never ceases to make me laugh when I explain a simplified form of the damage system; but it works.]
This is how I explain it. In D&D if you shoot a 1st level character with an arrow he has a good chance of dying. You then shoot a 5th level character with that same arrow and he barely even feels it. In RM if you shoot a 1st level character with an arrow he has a fair chance of dying from his wound. You then shoot a 30th level character with that same arrow, he has as good of a chance of dying as the first level character. [Yes, you read that right.] In RM you have Critical Hit Tables that can do extra damage, loss of limbs, even instant death. It all depends on how well the GM rolls on the Critical Tables. [The 30th level character has more HP and a lot more skills than the 1st level character, but they'll both die if you shoot them in the head with an arrow.

Send me a PM if you want a more detailed explanation of what I'm talking about.

Well, it's always relaxing to get your steam out with friends. Doesn't means that you should listen or do as they advice.
Most of the time they'd spit out some silly stuff just to turn your thoughts away from the problem, not being actually serious.
Yet Chucky doesn't know they're not serious.

I just don't get the way some people talk casually about their private sexual encounters.
Chucky
9 years, 4 months ago
I probably didn't show it enough, but he's quite close with is room mate and room mate's wife. These topics aren't off limits with them.
Winterfeline
9 years, 4 months ago
Its not entirely unknown behaviour, some people are fairly open about it. I am friends with a guy who's girlfriend was rather open about what the two of them were doing, to the point of even joking about wanting us out of the door in the evening because no background music would cover the noise coming from their room soon. So on and so on.

Nonetheless, yes it makes sense that people that trust one another enough to joke about those things can be rather open about sexual things too. They're not so much a taboo in some parts of the world as they are in others.

Example: Finnish guy here, I've sat in a sauna without any towels in use with 3 of my male friends and 2 female friends, and nothing sexual about that really. Yet the idea of that had a few friends I have on the world practically in shock for a while, and a traditionally raised British fellow now living in Finland even remarked that he could understand it between guys not caring about the towels but that it wasn't making sense to have girls around at the same time too, remarking it was likely to end up in some awkward looks. Meh, figure its just how different cultures are sometimes, what people are used to. Funny enough, I see the same girls in bikini and I can't help but admire their form, but relaxing in the nude in the sauna is kinda 'sacred' in a way, there's no leering or such going on there. Meh.

Sorry, weird ranting...
Chucky
9 years, 4 months ago
Rant is acceptable. Throughout college and afterwards, I had various different room mates. Most of us got comfortable enough with each other to discuss all manner of topics, including personal stuff. Some people were more comfortable than others, but I usually got a feel for room mates pretty quickly and knew how far I could take topics.
FoxonTheFox
9 years, 3 months ago
I can take certain topics all the way. I'm really open. and most people I know are the same.

Rhysion
9 years, 4 months ago
This is going to be one of those hindsight things that everybody won't understand until after the fact. It's not fun to go through, but it happens to us all. If Chucky and Merry don't act like complete asses, I don't see why they wouldn't be able to patch things up to at least being friends again.

Oh Chucky...  Kinda reminds me of a comment Rabbit made years ago about relationships..  "it is like seeing a box of condoms that are made from the "Second Chance Condom Company", where the slogan was "Because your first encounter wasn't scary enough!"

Chucky, be yourself, the females will come to you, (hopefully, com..Err never mind !)

Murphy's law: "anything that can go wrong WILL go wrong." By asking "what else can go wrong" you're invoking the wrath of Murphy. Poor Chucky.

I know what it's like being in Marry's shoes, though. It sucks just as bad, though in a different way. It's like destroying a friend's trust. It hurts both parties. It doesn't make it right, but if Marry is even a little like me she'll feel bad about it her whole life.

Oh yeah THIS will end well. Not only getting "advice" from two of the LAST people he should be listening to right now but he just invoked the WORST of ALL possible Murphyism's : "WHAT ELSE CAN GO WRONG!"

...he didn't just say that.  Tell me he didn't just say that.

*sigh* Way to tempt the Gods of Irony, Chucky.

Also, what they're saying about Merry kinda bugs me.  I guess it's easy to judge someone based on their actions and what little you know about them, rather than getting close enough to find out.  Hope they don't start rumors or something, even on accident.
