Celebrating success on the way out - art by Foxena

Try not to think why she's looking you like that - art by Foxena

"Finally it lit up... this g'damn place is like living at the bottom of a lake.", Yerra grumbles after several failed attempts to spark life to her lighter, and promptly lights up her cigar to greedily draw a deep breath through it - the glow of the flame glittering on her eyes as she exhales and watches how the puff of smoke gradually disperses in the darkness of the tunnel.

Honestly, the cigar had been a needless luxury, she thinks as she closes the lighter with a flick of her wrist and drops it into one of her breast pockets - but she had been unable to resist because it had been a *real* fresh cigar after so many years of scrounging for the odd packet of outdated and spoiled cigarettes, which always tasted like ass when smoked if they even caught fire properly. This cigar... it was beyond description in comparison, and she keeps puffing it with a blissful expression as she strolls over the damp floor, oblivious to the pungent smell of mold and decay all around her.

She had not initially meant to come here, due to the route being complicated and hazardous thanks to radiation hot spots and destruction left behind by several near misses the city had suffered during the nuclear apocalypse even if it hadn't been directly hit. However she had been forced to alter her plans, since spending extra time scavenging an abandoned industrial complex had left her ever-productive mammaries more awkwardly engorged than she had envisioned, and when she had pored over her maps, the marker for the agricultural town which had sprung in the ruins of the city after the radiation had cleared, had been closer than anything else.

The experience had been rather unusual for her due to how she had found out that the town had been founded almost entirely underground inside the maze-like network of underground parking garages, shopping areas, shelters, and tram/train tunnels which spread under the derelict buildings. Whereas the above ground structures had been re-purposed for growing crops in great "hanging gardens" all over the crumbling skyscrapers. And not only food crops and vegetables, but also luxuries such as tobacco and cannabis.

Admittedly, she had scoffed at the poorly lit and moist accommodations underground, but the sheer amount of effort put into connecting the underground areas and turning them into living space, had made an impression on her - not to mention the excitement of the inhabitants as they had inspected the large load of wares she had on her back, while making her quite embarrassed by shamelessly inquiring about the price of milk her swollen breasts and teats.

But in the end, she had gotten rid of everything quite easily and for a good price, as the demand for spares to maintain farming equipment had been great, after which she had been milked completely dry during the course of several days as she had sampled the freshly grown food and wares her customers had to offer. Finally she had taken a quick tour of the rather unusual gardens, and bought a few cigars, before bidding farewell to everyone.

Although when she sees the light at the end of the rarely used supply tunnel she chose as her exit, and enjoys her newly found lightness and agility which she knows won't last long, she already plans to return on a later date because there's just no substitute for a good cigar, dammit!
