She had crept down the hallway, eyes darting back and forth among the shadows searching for traps and enemies and had found none. Her ears twitched back and forth, her breathing quiet and steady despite her pounding heart. It was at moments like this where she truly felt alive.

As the scout of the adventurer party it was her job to scan the lay of the land, making sure that traps had been sniffed out and to search the area for signs of potential enemies, this castle however seemed to be unusually quiet especially since it had been hailed as being the lair of the one and only Lord Rison. Gem felt the fur on the back of her neck prickle. She had never seen the demon but tales of destruction, death and horror always followed his name.

The very notion that they had come to slay the evil lord just made her feel sick to her stomach with fright and yet excitement thrilled through her. She could be marching to her death but equally if the adventurer group managed to succeed they would be rich beyond their wildest dreams and hailed as heroes for the rest of their lives. An adventurer couldn't walk away from a prize as grand as that.

She thought back to her group of friends. They had been adventuring together for a number of years now and she trusted each one with her life. Lea, the youngest of the group only at 21 years old was, despite her young age, a master magician. A gifted girl, who though quietly spoken and often quite shy could conjure up a beast of a fireball storm should the need arise.

Next in age was Skippy, He was the thief in their party, having been an orphan for most of his known life he had lived on the streets and survived longer than Gem admitted she probably could. He had made the mistake of trying to pickpocket Nogard a few years ago, and the fact that the 23 year old thief had even tried to pickpock the warrior dragon had made Gem instantly warm to the lad. You had to be a special kind of cocky and a little bit crazy, to pick a fight with a warrior dragon that easily stood over 7 foot tall. Skippy would have snuck away too had Sundance the healer of the group not noticed the incident and after a brief chase and a small scuffle Skippy had been caught. Sundance and the others had wanted to frog march the lad straight to the authorities, but it had been Gem who had suggested perhaps bringing the skunk into their little troupe, after all every group needed a thief.

Gem and Sundance were the two more experienced members of the team both pushing close to 30 years old which in terms of adventuring was pushing into the realms of old age really, but with age came life experience and the healer and Scout had been through a lot together and had lived in each others company for so long that they could practically finish each other sentences.

Gem thought about the others, Nogard in particular as she blushed quietly in the dark, she had a little bit of a crush on the guy which she hadn't told anyone, sure he looked intimidating but having spent a number of years working with him Gem had soon learnt that actually he was quite kind and gentle and was actually a pretty decent cook, something that Gem sadly wasn't.

She snapped herself out of her thoughts as her experienced body suddenly noted a subtle change in air temperature. Her ears perked forward as she flattened herself against a wall, edging round the corner her eyes grew wide as she was staring into a large hall, a cauldron bubbling in the centre, green clouds of vapour cascading from it spewing out across the stone floor.

“Ah, so you're finally here my dear.”

The voice sent a shiver of ice up her spine and she froze.

….

“I don't like it. She's been gone too long, she should have been back by now” Nogard paced, his claws laced together brought up to his snout as he huffed and brooded.

“I'm sure she's just doing a thorough job she'll be back any minute, just be patient.” Skippy muttered as he cleaned his daggers. Sundance fluttered down off the broken pillar she had been sat on, her face creased with concern. She folded both sets of her arms.

“No. Nogard is right, something doesn't feel good about this. It's not like Gem to take this long. I say we head out and find her”

Nogard huffed in agreement, Lea too, nodded quietly, Skippy just shrugged and sheathed his weapons. “Well I guess i'm out voted, best get on our way then.”

The four remaining adventurers snuck into the castle and headed up the stairs cautiously, winding their way through the corridors as silently as they could, with Nogard being the biggest and strongest leading the party. Suddenly he stopped and held up his clawed hand, the other three stopped too, holding their breath.
“I thought I heard something up ahead.” He whispered gruffly.
Lea muttered something quietly under her breath and the group of them briefly glowed a warm summer yellow colour. “Just a little protection spell, wouldn't want to be caught by surprise” She smiled at the others as Skippy edged round the corner as stealthily as he could, to find a weird moving pile of clothes.
“They're Gems!” Sundance gasped. She'd recognised that brown scout cowl anywhere. She rushed over and plucked the cowl up, only to discover it heavier than she expected. There was a quiet little squeak and shocked Sundance dropped the clothing. All of a sudden the clothing started up a loud wailing screech causing the adventurers to cover their ears.
“What is it?” Skippy yelled over the noise.
Nogard drew his sword and using the tip gently poked at the clothing, teasing the folds apart until what was revealed made the band of friends gasp.

Looking up teary eyed from her position in the nest of her old clothes on the stone floor was a tiny ball of squirrel fluff. Deep down a murmur of a memory dragged itself from the recesses of her mind, she recognised these giants towering over her, she knew them. She let out a small gurgled smile, kicked her legs feebly up in the air for a moment or two and then yawned, sticking her pudgy paw into her mouth to chew on it quietly, her large baby blue eyes looking from one giant to the next, they looked upset. Had she done something bad?

“I think it's...Gem!” Nogard sheathed his weapon and picked up the small squirrel girl carefully, much to her delight and she babbled animatedly at the large adult, she could almost fit into one of his clawed hands.
“What kind of sorcery is this?” He growled angrily, which instantly made Gem start to whimper, quickly he changed his expression, smiling, realising his reaction was upsetting the child. Instantly Gem stopped her whimpering and gave out another large yawn before curling up in his hands and settling down to get back to her sleep which had been interrupted when she had been plucked off the stone floor.

“Ah. So you found her. Quite the little sneak she was, but I thought perhaps she was getting a little old for all this adventuring business so thought i'd help her out.” An evil chuckle echoed around the room and the team had been so caught up in discovering their regressed comrade that they hadn't noticed the impending danger they had been in.

Sat on a large extravagant throne, the one and only Lord Rison glared at the intruders. He leaned back on his seat putting his hands behind his head and stretching, a look of cold calculating contempt on his face.

“Change her back. NOW!” Sundance held out her staff her wings beating to lift her off the floor. Rising above her comrades.
Rison just chuckled some more, he oozed confidence.

“What? Not even a Please? Come now, who do you think you are, barging in here, into my home and then demanding I do what you tell me. That's not very polite at all is it?”
Ever so gently Nogard lowered the sleeping infant squirrel back into the pile of clothes they had found her in. It was the safest place he could think for her, for now. With his claws now empty he drew his weapon.

“We'll make you a deal. You change her back and we won't cut you up. No one splits up our team.”
He took a large step towards the throne, and Lord Rison flinched mockingly, clearly not taking the threat seriously. The demon clasped his hands together talking in a sickeningly sweet voice.

“Oh. You don't want to be split up? Friends are you? That's touching. Okay then, wouldn't want anyone left out now would I?” Suddenly his whole demeanour changed and he jumped to his feet, the cauldron suddenly springing to life, the smoke coiling into bright tendrils around his hands.

“Watch out! He's doing something!” Lea yelled before she felt something icy snake around her tail and feet. She yelped in surprise, this magic was strong if it had managed to break through her protection spell so easily. Almost instantly the world around her began to grow larger, no, as her clothes began to swamp around her she realised the world wasn't growing, she was shrinking.

“Dun let da smoke...fings..touch yoo.” She yelped, her voice sounding more and more childish as she continued to regress, her legs bowed out alarmingly as her underwear expanded and puffed out to encase her in a baby's diaper, She blushed humiliated, as her wizard robes pooled around her on the floor, her lithe womanly body vanished to be replaced by baby podge. Unable to take the abrupt transformation she burst into tears, holding onto the hat that flopped around on her tiny head.

Her friends were faring no better. The acrid smelling smoke that had spewed from the cauldron had already wrapped itself around Nogard and Skippy too, both the males of the group were suffering the same fate as Lea, their toned muscular bodies shrinking down through their teenage, then child and finally settling on their infant ages. Nogard looked down at his tiny claws, The leather wrist cuffs that he was so fond of he could now probably fit his head through them and his main horn, the pride and joy of his adulthood had shrunk back to a nub. Within mere seconds he had been rendered helpless and he hadn't even managed to put up a fight. His pride crushed he just continued to stare at his claws in disbelief.

Skippy had no recollection of his first childhood and had no intention of having to start over from scratch but already he found himself swamped in his own clothing, his bandanna obscuring his sight as it slipped over his regressed face. He didn't want to be a baby, he was self sufficient, he didn't want someone looking after him or molly coddling him. He loved his independence and he visibly trembled as he swiftly came to the realisation that he was flooding the diaper that had magically transformed around his waist. He was wetting himself like a proper little infant. He tried to push himself to his feet but found his legs wouldn't take the weight, his new podgy baby legs were too weak to hold him up. Tears stung at his eyes as he realised his independence had been lost.

Sundance fluttered above the smoke that rolled across the stone floor, horrified by the fact that her friends had been rendered helpless very swiftly indeed.

Lord Rison stared up at the moth woman flapping above the chaos as the newly infantised adventurers started crying and whimpering. The baby squirrel the only one not fussing as she seemed to be sleeping through her friends ordeal.

“Three down, one to go, come down here my dear, all your friends want to play, you don't want to miss out on the fun do you? Don't worry I wont kill any of you, being stuck in a permanent age regression spell means that none of you will be getting any older, stuck in a baby limbo forever sounds much more of a fitting fate than simply death, don't you agree?”

Sundance held back a sob, her friends wouldn't be getting older? She had to find a way to reverse the spell. Rison glared up at the woman, his spell wouldn't reach her up there, unless... he had an idea.

Suddenly Rison stuck his hands into the cauldron, cupping handfulls of the elixir and threw the contents of his hands up into the air, splashing the girl and causing her wings to stick together, she instantly plummetted to the stone floor where the greedy cauldron smoke tendrils wrapped themselves around her, subjecting her to the fate of her friends, she struggled and managed to get her wings unstuck, but by this time she had forgotten how to use her wings, her clothing already pooled around her, her staff once matching her height now several times the size of her. Aware she now sported a similar diaper to the rest of her team mates, she held back the tears, she had to reason with the demon before she lost her ability to think clearly

“P'EASE! DUN DO THIS!” She looked up from her position on the floor, tears splattering her face and she froze. The demon Lord...he...was regressing too. She had a chance, if she could appeal to him tor reverse what was happening to him perhaps he would do the same for the others

“Lord Rison. P'ease! It's happenin' to yoo too! MAKE IT STOP!”
The moth girl tried to rise but already the knowledge of how to walk escaped her and she flopped to her tummy looking up at the shock on the evil demon's face.

“What! No. NO! Dis isnt possi...possbul....dis is bad!” Rison scrambled down off the throne which now towered above him, Had his own spell been that potent that even he had not been immune? He needed to remember the reversing incantation before it was too late, if he couldn't recall it, he'd be stuck just as small and helpless as the puny adventurers he had just neutralised. He tripped and sprawled across the stone floor, the thick diaper between his chubby little legs hindering his ability to walk. He pushed himself into a crawling position and noticed his knee was bleeding ever so slightly from the trip. He looked down at the graze suddenly forgetting what he had been rushing for and burst into tears. The poor dragon demon lord had a booboo and needed someone to kiss it better, where was his mummy?

It was three hours before the small band of adventurers were discovered. Luckily for them regression was a tiring event and all of them after a mild amount of crying and whimpering had fallen asleep, the final phase of the regression where sleeping allowed the brain to recuperate and erase any unnecessary and unwanted remaining memories.

It was a different band of adventurers seeking the evil Lord Rison, that had stumbled into the hall and instead of finding peril had found several small infants, all in various states of needing feeding or diaper changes or both. Confused and rather bewildered by finding so many young children up in a castle renown for housing the worlds most vile demon, the adventurers returned to the town with the babies. The new band of adventurers were disappointed that they had not come up against the vile Lord Rison, not realising that the little dragon hatchling babbling rather cheerily up at the woman mage who was cooing at him and carrying him was exactly the evil villian that they had set out to destroy.
