Well it was official Aqui, the team leader, trainer and assassin of the magician rebels had gotten lost while on a tour of the Arc. It was one of those polite alliances ‘I’ll show you mine if you show me yours’ sort of trust meetings wherein Tech and a few others from the Havens would be shown around the Arc. To ‘Ooh’ and ‘Aah’ over the technology which made what Tech dreamt up infantile, hopefully there was to be trades of goods and information, Aqui was just there to look like the nice little solider in case one of the locals tried to eat anyone from her group. To be honest it was only a matter of time before someone got lost, the Arc was pretty much ten times the size of Haven Five and it was so big it had its own artificial moons; Aqui just figured it was going to be G.I.A.S or Slither who are renowned for wandering off. It was pretty humiliating to find herself being the ‘lost tourist’ all she could do was keep going and hope she would either run into someone she knew or someone who could at least point her in the right direction.
Aqui found it even more bizarre when she opened one door and found herself in a forest! It was so big she couldn’t even see the ceiling or even the wall of the other side of the room. Emerald green trees which leaves sparkled with the dew, luscious grass and flowers of all colours grew in that room, it was like something out of a fairy tale.
Hell she was all but certain she saw at least a glowing butterfly or fairy!!
“All we need now is a Unicorn…” she muttered. Deciding that the next best thing to stop herself from getting even more lost was to get to the highest point and try and locate the exit; she changed to her liquid state and flowed up the trunk of the largest tree in sight and then surged from branch to branch till she reached the top. She glanced around balancing on top of the highest branch the way only a ninja could [even though Aqui hated to be called a Ninja] she could see the wall in the far distance and she gave a growl of displeasure.
“Seriously who puts a fairy tale forest in a space station?”
She bounced from tree branch to tree branch leaping up to the canopy to make sure she was still going the right way, after five miles she had to stop and rest. Looking around she couldn’t help but marvel at this artificial eco-system, the best Haven Five had was hordes of potted plants and green houses. Most of the Unique Breeds food came from Haven two and three the only planet side bases they could build, but to have a whole forest? That looks so natural she couldn’t even see the lights of the ceiling, she wondered if Tech could borrow whatever they used to make this so they could have one…just maybe a little less ‘sparkly’.
It was during this little moment of quiet that she heard a buzzing noise ….
She looked up to see a humanoid turquoise hornet with four arms, a thorax and even mandibles instead of a mouth, of course Aqui wasn’t fazed by this person after she herself was made of liquid and worked with a guy most people would look at and think that he is an animal. She stood there and gave a wave hoping to get the bug lady’s attention.
Only to get a rapier thrown at her, it went slicing through her torso and stabbed into a tree. Aqui turned to look at the offending object and then glanced back at the bug lady.
“Was that necessary?” She demanded, the Bug lady glared at her and drew out three more rapiers, with a buzz and a click she dived down at Aqui who now took the hint and exploded into liquid and gushed down into the branches below.
Aqui formed again crouched down on a lower branch and glared at this lady.
“Get out of my forest!” the bug lady declared.
“Oh so you can talk huh?” Aqui stated “Care to tell me who you are?”
“I am Wisp!” she exclaimed “Protector of this forest! Now be gone!”
“For the love of…” Aqui muttered angrily “I am trying you bug brained moron!”
For some strange reason Wisp found that comment offensive and swooped down to attack, Aqui leapt out of her path and before she had landed pulled out her katana from her chest cavity. On the Wisp’s attack she parried trading blow for blow before Aqui kicked her in the chest and sent Wisp flying into a tree. Wisp grabbed a branch to stop her from falling completely and glared up as Aqui chuckled to herself.
“Think you’re the first four arm fighter I’ve fought?” she laughed as she spun her blade in her hand “You’re no Hilt bug brain!” Wisp snarled as she took to the air again, Aqui looked around as the buzzing noise suddenly became more intense and she looked around to see a whole swarm of wasps and hornets all of which were at least five inches big. Wisp gave a silent command and the swarm surged in to attack.
“Bug brain!” Aqui laughed “I am made of liquid you can’t hurt me!” but that was soon proven otherwise when five or more bugs clung to her and started to strip globs of her body away and drink it! Aqui swatted them away but this was a pointless endeavour she flailed around and lost her footing in her blind panic. This lost most of the bugs as she splatted against several branches before squelching on the floor, she reformed looking disorientated.
Wisp fluttered down and glared at her as she got to her feet again and grabbed her katana blades. The swarm gathered closely around her, Aqui took a battle pose and got ready for a fight.
“Can’t you fight on your own?” she taunted “Or do you need your bugs to do it for you?”
Wisp looked annoyed before she gave a swipe of her hand and the swarm backed off slightly, Wisp then fluttered down onto the ground before also taking a battle pose with four rapiers ready to strike. Aqui gave an invisible smirk and leapt forward.
Countless strikes, parries and attacks were made in the few minutes they fought neither making any head way, Wisp flung forward to take Aqui’s head off but Aqui melted into the floor letting Wisp stumble over head as she reformed again and struck at Wisp’s legs causing her to shriek. Before Aqui could take in this little moment of Win the swarm decided to avenge their master, she gave a yelp and ran. As she dashed through the forest sloshing under branches and roots, as the swarm and Wisp kept up they would trade blows in mid run and Aqui would try to loose her but would only succeed for a few seconds. Just as Aqui was beginning to tire she found the door that she had come through but before she could even grab the door handle Wisp appeared in front of it.
“Look Bug brain, you keep yelling at me to get out of your forest and now there’s the door!” she declared “let me out and I won’t kill you!”
“Like I’m going to let you go after what you did!” Wisp growled, Just as they were both about to pounce on each other Arc, Tech and the others in the group walked in.
“And now we can show you our artificial gar…” Arc trailed off when they saw the two women practically at each other’s throats but had now froze in mid battle to look at the group. Tech gave a groan and face palmed.
“Take Aqui I thought” he muttered “She’s the most mature…good grief!”
“Wisp” Arc began.
“She started it!” Wisp and Aqui cried in unison.
