Okay so, I was on Tumblr, and I saw a drawing someone made of the part to those fancy dresses with the cage you wear on your butt to make it stick out, and I thought about how it almost looked like she could be a fancy centaur under there, and then I decided I want to see a fancy centaur lady, so I made a sketch real fast and picked the first hairstyle that came to mind, and she ended up punk. Then I decided I should try out those paper textures I downloaded while I'm at it.

I like to think a friend or SO or someone close to her wanted to dress her fancy and make her feel dainty, so they goaded her into dressing really different. She kept the spiked collar though, because that was too much to get rid of. She seems sorta okay with it but really bashful.

Anyways, this is the kind of drawing you would get if I drew every idea I get throughout the day.

That is a really cool idea ^^
And yeah. I have tons of ideas during the day as well. I never really draw them all :(

I really like how this turned out. Such a lovely dress, and then the contrasting personal of the centaur in it. *laugh* :)

Gussying up for Homecoming?

Although I'm no fashion designer, I can't help but feel the skirt part of the dress is missing something, probably due to the length of the horse body.  It's good for casual wear, when you don't want anything too fancy, but I'd think something more formal would make one want to add something to the horse sides.  Since I'm so reminded of a table, perhaps an optional "saddle doily" could be a simple but elegant solution.  What do you think?

I think "saddle doily" is my new favourite out-of-context phrase.

But yes, I agree it's a bit empty. I wanted to play around and add more, but I really needed to work on commissions and not horse dresses, ha ha ha. I think a sort of dressed-up saddle might do the trick though.

True enough.  At least the centaur isn't going to gallop off in embarrassment by the time you decide to take a quick break from commissions. :p

That was part of my thinking when I suggested a saddle doily.  As she wouldn't be actually carrying anyone, the saddle wouldn't be a functional one.  In fact, it's possible the only reasons it would be called a saddle would be because of its location and a general resemblance to such a thing.  Considering how outrageously fancy some dress fashions in the past have been, one can only imagine just how imaginative fashionistas would get with such an expanded canvas. :o

I'm kind of picturing a saddle reminiscent of a fancy hat, like this or this. Not sure how to work that into something meant for the back, but I think there is potential.

I think you ought to take a look at various carousel horses, too.  Perhaps something along the lines of the fancy fripperies festooning them mixed with the hat to replace the actual saddle itself.  Whatever you come up with, I'm sure there's been worse fashions throughout history. :p

(Apologies for the delay in replying.  I'd wanted to try drawing something to go with this, but that hasn't panned out yet.)

You should definitely draw out thoughts like this one more often.

That's some charming context you provided for her total look ^^ .
