Is it a Yurk? I see where you are going with this. I read K.A. Applegate too. So is this ANTHROmorphs? I SO see what you did there.

No, just a random brain slug. And I believe it's spelled "Yeerk." I could be wrong, though.

Oh..it is and okay. Still I read Animorphs in 5th grade so I am sure you see why I jumped there. Especially the alien invasion by brainslug bit.

Heh, the concept of parasites controlling human minds is older than dirt. I have a novel called The Brain Eaters about parasitic worms that turn people into homicidal maniacs, and it was written way back in the 80's.

But, yeah, I read Animorphs, too, in middle school. Never saw the show except for part of the first episode, though.

Show sucked balls. I was pissed when she killed off Rachel in the end of the books...I tended to think of them as their favorite animal shifts too.

A borderline Cthulhu mythos tale by Colin Wilson, the Mind Parasites, involved brain invaders that caused the host to be gloomy and pessimistic. During the 1700's and early 1800's, much of Western Man was infected, and an age dominated by pessimism resulted. Kant, et al.

There ARE parasites that cause women to be self-assertive and men to be apologetic !

Ha, interesting. Book or short story?

It is a novel, but it wasn't published by Arkham House. I forget a lot of the details. Colin Wilson also wrote borderline books like THE RETURN OF THE LLOIGOR and THE PHILOSPHER'S STONE.
