It was almost a week after Tails decided that he was not going to be depressed about Cosmo's death. He was still going to miss her but their was nothing he could do and everyone needed him. A big relive more than anything really.
The settlement and his friends needed him. The water Purifier had broken down and the irrigations systems had clog up from dirt, plants and sticks. The cargo ships and planes needed repairs and were soon down by half due to neglect. The generator that provided power was about to breakdown too.
Everybody was on edge.
Tails did start working again right away.
This relived everybody but also taught them a lesson on how much work the fox did for everybody.
However this was going to take a long time to repair and everyone helped as they could.
They tried helping him by making Tails meals so he could work more, getting him parts and tools so he can work faster and easer, and mint treats so he would be happy.
Tails close friends were even more relived. The depression of Tails was scaring them, especially Sonic who was long time friends with Tails.
Mean while...... BOOM!!!!
“2734! STAND DOWN!” Said a light brown female fox with a tail 4 times the length of her, driving a large, military style truck though a forest.
“ORDERS UNRECOGNIZED!!!” Boomed a Giant Robot, “FIRING MISSILES 2-6!”.
“CRAP!” Screamed the light brown fox who then turned her head to the back of the truck and yelled “DO SOMETHING RAL-RAK!”.
A black fox that was wearing a black cloak that had a red spot on the left breast, who was sitting in the back looked up, Squinted his eyes, and said ”Okay Fara. If you think you need my help, I understand.”.
“JUST DO IT! WERE ABOUT TO GET DESTROYED!” Screamed Fara.
The black fox stood up and grabbed staff, put a hand on the wall of the truck, bowed his head and whisper, “ Tak-shoon-sin-mi.” and with that a red glow surrounded him then shot up his arm touching the wall and covered the truck with the red glow.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!!!!
The truck rattled and shook some beakers off a rack and shatter on the floor of the truck.
The truck then forged a small shallow lake and raced off. The giant robot stopped and put a hose into the lake and sucked it dry almost immediately, resuming his pursuit right after.
“CHAIN GUNS INITIATED! WATER COOL MODE SELECTED!” Boomed the Robot again causing both the foxes to say “AWW CRAP!”, Fara in a worried panicked voice and Ral-Rak in a quited disgruntled voice.
“DESTROY IT!” commanded Fara.
“I Can't.” Replied Ral-Rak, “I don't have enough power. Now I used to have another magic jewel that allowed me to do something like this, did I not Fara?” he said in a mocking tone.
“OKAY I GET IT!” Yelled Fara.
“Now I remember! You “borrowed” it and put it inside a robot. Now what happen to that robot? Do you know Fara?” Ral-Rak continued.
“I SAID I GET IT, NOW SHUT UP!!” Yelled Fara who was in no mood for this.
“You know what Fara? I think that robot BLEW UP OUR HOUSE, MY LAB, AND MY FARM AND IS NOW TRY TO KILL US!” yelled Ral-Rak who then looked on the computer screen.
He noticed where they were and said “Good news Fara, the sonar map is saying only a 1\4 of a mile left till were out of the woods, then we can take some cover behind a mountain.”.
“Cool, Got it.” replied Fara and pressed the accelerator peddle to the floor.
As soon as they got out of the forest the robot spoke, ”PREPARING MISSILES 7-20!”.
“I wont be able to handle that, with the chain gun and the 6 missiles from before. Were done for unless we think of something fast.” Ral-Rak said.
Tails was working on some of the cargo ships in his lab on the mountain said when he heard the robot talk. He looked outside and saw what was happening and put out a alert to the Sonic team. He then jumped into the X-Tornado and Took off for the robot.
“FIRING MISSILES” Said the robot and fired the missiles.
“We are done for!” Cried Fara.
The X-Tornado then fired 4 missiles and its machine gun at the missiles and robot destroying 5 missiles and distracting it.
Sonic then flew out of an oblivion and spin dashed 3 more of the missiles and hitting the robot but bouncing off.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!!
The red shielding had now disperse from its over protection.
Ral-Rak saw what was happening and grabbed the speaker phone and said,“CLEAR THE ROBOT, INCOMING MISSILE!” and grabbed the launcher, opened the back doors and aimed.
Sonic heard and backed off.
Ral-Rak fired a missile and hit it in the left side releasing a corrosive gas that melted the armor off.
Sonic spin dashed the robot again and went though it.
The robot went down but was not out still firing his chain gun at Tails and his jet.
Ral-Rak yelled “MAR-RAY-SHAW” and fired a energy blast at the still moving robot.
Sonic spin dashed it again and grabbed the magic jewel before exiting.
The robot stopped firing and became motionless.
The truck stopped and Sonic sped over while Tails landed near by. The two foxes got out of the truck and walk over to their heroes.
“Thank you for saving us kind sirs” Fara said, noticing Tails' Tails and bowing her head in gratitude.
“Ahh Yes. Thank you for saving our lives. I also notice you have my magic jewel. Could I have that back please?” Said Ral-Rak bowing his head in gratitude also but clutching his left chest.
Sonic then thought about it for a second and said “ No problems for saving you lives but me and my friend here really need this Chaos Emerald.”.
“But!... But!....” Ral-Rak tried to reason but Fara interrupted “Thats okay, That can be your reward.”.
Ral-Rak had a dumbfound look on his face but said ”Okay, that can be your reward but I do need it right now if you don't mind.”, then having blood drip though his cloak. Sonic saw the blood and said ”Okay, here.” and handed the Emerald to Ral-Rak.
Ral-Rak open his cloak and reviled a gaping wound that was glowing slightly and surprised the 3. Ral-Rak then said “Shila-mi-kent” and the wound glowed a yellow and healed over. Ral-Rak cough some blood and gave the emerald back to Sonic.
“Why did you not tell me that before?” asked Fara with a worried look on her face. “Yeah! You have just said that and you wold have gotten the emerald right away.” said Sonic.
“Your worrying would have clouded your judgment when we were fleeing the robot, and that is apparently your reward Sonic.” Ral-Rak said and turn his head to Tails and asked “ What do you want for a reward?”.
“Oh you don't have to give me anything, though if you have some mint candy I would gladly take that off your hands for you.” Tails said with a smile.
“Sorry buddy, no candy. But I do have some mint plants if you care to take a look.” replied Ral-Rak
“Sure” Said Tails enthusiastically and the two walk over to the truck . Ral-Rak open his herb garden on the truck that was stored in a compartment.
“I have several kind of mint plants. Chocolate Mint, Apple Mint, Common Mint, and Spearmint. You can choose one and I can give you some leaves from the others also.”
While Tails thought about which kind of mint he wanted, Fara and Sonic introduced them selfs.
“I'm Fara and this is my brother, Ral-Rak.” said Fara. Ral-Rak turned his head and waved.
Sonic waved back and said ”Nice to meet you. I'm Sonic and that is my pal Tails.” Tails this time turned his head around and waved also but notice Fara's very long tail as well.
Fara waved back with her hands and tail, smiled and gigged.
Tails said “I'll take the chocolate mint Ral-Rak” and walked off.
Ral-Rak turn his head and smiled as he watch Tails talk to Fara.
“So thats why you have two tails on your jet there. They are both very nice.” said Fara making Tails blush red.
“I really like your tail also Fara. It's very long and very pretty.” slip though the mouth of Tails making them both practically glowing bright red.
Ral-Rak walk towards Sonic and whispered “Do you hear wedding bells?” making them both laugh quietly.
“So, How did you get a giant robot chasing you?” asked Sonic.
“Well and Fara were going to attack a man named Dr. Robotnik and....” Ral-Rak Said be fore being interrupted by Sonic.
“Robotnik!!” said Sonic in surprise.
“Yes, he set up a dam cutting off water to my small farm and my village. Do you know him?” said Ral-Rak.
“Yea he has causing havoc for me and my team for as long as I can remember.” explained Sonic “..but please continue.”
“Oh, well, anyway me and my sister built some robots to help us on the raid. My sister had the idea to....” said Ral-Rak before he is interrupted again by Fara
“Can you make me fly?” asked Fara.
“What?” asked Ral-Rak. Fara pointed at Tails hovering in the air with his tails and she said” I want to fly too.”
Ral-Rak look at the two and said “Well I been wondering when you were going to ask me that. I prepared a spell quite a long time ago. Sonic the “emerald” please?”
Sonic handed the emerald to Ral-Rak.
Ral-Rak then grabbed his staff and the emerald and glowed white, then Fara glowed white. This continued for a few seconds till Ral-Rak stopped glowing white. A few seconds later Fara stopped glowing white and Ral-Rak fell to his knees. He took a bit gasp of air and huffed it back out again and said “There, just spin your tail like a cork screw and you shall fly.” and handed the emerald back to Sonic.
“What do you mean you had this spell for a while?” Fara asked in a bit of a huff.
“I have a lot of spells I keep secret till you reach the right mind set. But now Don't think about it. Just have fun with your friend there.” Ral-Rak said with a smile.
Fara looked at him and said “Thanks.” with a smile back and flew over to Tails saying “TAG!”. The two started flying around and Ral-Rak continued his story.
“So as I was saying, my sister got the idea to reprogram the robot and stole my magic jewel for a power source. Needless to say I woke up to a chain gun to my face from an AWOL robot, and my house, farm and lab in rubble on fire. I grabbed my sister and we took off running in my truck. That was last night till just now. About 12 hours.”
“Wow!” said Sonic, “What a night.”, he glanced at Tails and Fara playing, noticing how happy Tails is and offered ”Would you like to become allies? You two could stay with us at the settlement me and my friends live at.”.
“Well.....” Ral-Rak had to think a moment, he had no house, lab, or much supplies and was down by one magic jewel which was being offered to share with him, but he had no idea where he was or where he was going with who. He looked at Fara and how happy she was with Tails and said
“Do you mind if we stay a night or two to think about it?”
“Sure.” said Sonic.
“Where is this place?” Ral-Rak asked.
Tails zoomed by saying “ At location 122747” quickly and flying off before Fara could catch him.
“Thats not that far away from this spot isn't?” asked Ral-Rak.
“Not far at all.“ said Sonic.
“Sound good to me but let me ask Fara for her option on this. HEY FARA!” Ral-Rak yelled.
Fara and Tails came floating over.
“How would you like us to stay with theses 2 and their friends for a bit?” Ral-Rak asked.
“I would love to.” Said Fara with enthusiasm.
“Then we better start taking off then. See ya in a bit you two.” Ral-Rak said with a smile and the four split up.
“Hey wait!” Yelled Sonic.
The two foxes turned around to find the emerald flying at them.
Ral-Rak caught it and Sonic and Tails started walking back when Ral-Rak said “Wait.”
The two turned around to find Tails mint plant and 3 cloth satchels filled mint leaves flying at them. Tails and Sonic caught them and yelled “Thank you!.”
The 4 finally got into their respect vehicles and left the robot behind.
Fara was driving again and Ral-Rak kept staring at her with a huge grin.
“What?” Fara asked.
“I saw how you were making eyes with that fox” Ral-Rak said, making her blush red.
“I don't know what your talking about” she said in a way like she did not care.
“Oh Tails! My hero!” Ral-Rak said in a high pitch mocking tone.
“Stop it.” she said sinking into her seat, while wrapping her long tail around her to hide her almost glowing red face.
“Your so handsome Tails. If I fly like you would you like me more?” he continued in the voice.
“STOP THAT OR I WILL PUNCH YOU” she yelled trying to sink into her seat and wrapping her tail around her even more to cover up the red blush.
Ral-Rak just smiled and then said “Do you like these mint chocolate chip cookies I made you? It was not hard. All I did was use my grandma's chocolate chip cookie recipe and added the chocolate mint extract...” pausing to see what she dose.
Fara cocked back her arm ready to punch and then loosens it slightly along with her tail and said “Wait. What?” in a confused matter.
“I added the extract my bother made into the cookie dough and baked at 20 degrees lower than the recipe states.” he said in the girl tone again.
Fara thought about for a few seconds and then punched him as hard as she could right on his chin and said ”Thank you” with a smile on her face that was still glowing red.
Mean while on the X Tornado...
Sonic was talking to Tails when he said “So... you and Fara were chatting it up a bit, huh?” and then grinned.
Tails fantasizing about her and said “Yeah....” and then realizing what he just said panicked and said” NO! I MEAN YES! I MEAN....!!”.
“Whoa, Whoa.... Cool it pal. I'm just saying I can tell she really likes you.”
Tails immediately turned around and gave the hedgehog his full undivided attention and said “How? Tell Me!”.
Sonic, surprised by Tails' new openness about his feelings, then said “ Well she did build a robot with her brother, which mean she dose know a little something about engineering and electronics. She waned the ability to fly so you two had something special together besides your guys' tails. She was very interested on staying with us so I say that a plus.”
The fox listened to every word Sonic said before saying “Thanks!”. Tails return to his seat and flew the jet as happy as he can be.
Then Sonic suggest the idea ”Why don't we have a feast for them?”.
“That a great idea Sonic but what should we make them?” said Tails.
“I don't know Tails but I have a idea. Buzz over their truck and I'll jump on. While I'm on, you can call up Amy, Cream, and Vanilla and tell them whats going down. When I'm down there, I'll just tell them there a food shortage and find out what foods they don't like to save food that we give them later on. Ill just check back in on the com. watch to tell them later. They won't see a huge feast coming and we get the info.”
“Sounds good to me.” said Tails who was turning around already and speeding up.
Back on the truck
I'm going to grab a snack, you want anything?” ask Ral-Rak.
“Just some water will be fine.” replied Fara.
FWOOSH!!! The X-Tornado passed dropping off Sonic on to the hood of the truck.
“AAAHHHH” Screen Fara while Ral-Rak just laugh and stuck his head out the window.
“Knock that off “ he yelled, “ your freaking out Fara. Now get in here.”
“Okay” said Sonic and hopped though the window.
“Whats up?” ask Ral-Rak.
“Well, its like this, We have a bit of a food shortage but we still want to give you something to eat, is there anything you guys don't like before we give it to you?”
“Well I don't really eat green vegetables or most cooked ones and Fara is more of a vegetarian but still eats most food you give her.”
“Yep.” Said Fara, “I'm not the picky one.”
“Sound good to me but you might want to bring some food also. It just looks bad when you come to a place with a food shortage and not give food back when you have some.” said Sonic.
“Thanks for the heads up, what time to you guys eat any way?” Ask Fara.
“Around 6-8 but mostly at sunset.” replied Sonic.
“Anything we should not make our selfs?” ask Ral-Rak.
“Just try not to do much with fruit, its what we have been eating for the last month or so.” Answered Sonic.
“Ahh. Okay then, anything else?” asked Ral-Rak.
“That should cover it” replied Sonic.
“Then I better get cooking.” said Ral-Rak and moved to the back of the truck and started washing potatoes.
“Would you like to stay and relax for a second?” ask Fara. “I wish I could but I gotta jet. See you two in a bit.” said Sonic before he jumped out the window and raced off into the horizon.
“Well at least we have a new home now.” said Ral-Rak to Fara.
Fara looked down and said “I'm sorry.”.
“What” Ral-Rak said Turning his head and putting down his cutting knife.
Tears stared to roll down Fara's face, then speaking again,“I'm sorry for everything. For destroying our house, your, lab, the robots, the farm. I'm sorry for stealing form you and lying too you! I almost got us killed!”.
Ral-Rak put his hand on her shoulder and said “Its okay. I forgive you.”.
“How could you forgive someone like me?” she asked with even more tears falling down her cheeks.
“Because your my little sister, and I am your big brother, and thats what big brothers do. We forgive our little sisters for their stupid mistakes and pick on them, and little sisters lean from their mistakes and kick their big brothers in the balls for picking on them. Besides I took some precautions also, and were are getting a lucky break from this for, new friends, and for you, a new love. Now with that said, do you want this raw, dirty, half-pealed potato?” he said with a big smile making her crack up.
”No, but thank you” she said trying to calm her laughter.
“Okay then” he turn his head a looked at the map, and said ”about another 1 hour there. Do you want me to make your cookies for Tails?”.
“I want to make thought but your a better cook, so if you will please then yes.” she said with a smile and a final tear dripping from her eye.
“All right then” he said walking to the back again.
“Wait! What precautions? Fara asked.
“Oh, You will see. You will see.” said Ral-Rak in a sly voice.
