New Tibet, a ruthless world of snow and ice, and here I was, lured to it by the promise of wealth and opportunities unseen. Only I should have reconsidered when I had the chance...

Lost in the gleam of unrecognizable stars
- a gem in the sky they said! -
Maybe they mentioned the cold, the raging snow,
But they never said I'd be all alone!

I paid for my ticket, I signed off all I owned on a whim
- fortune and wealth they said! -
Yes of course there'd be hardship, yes of course there was a risk,
but one I hadn't planned on facing on my own

This cold brings out the worst in every man!

I unlock the door, I shake off all the water on my coat
- a tiny place, but my own -
Even though it looks gloomy, even though it's not much,
through gritted teeth I've come to call it home.

We met at a bar, two lonely strays, who came to forget
- by drinking their sorrow away -
we were oh so different, the leopard and the wolf,
but when you looked at me my spirit was aglow

Seems you bring out the good in every man!

Loving you tonight like there's no tomorrow,
Share this life with me, we'll forget our sorrow,
never mind the diff'rence, I won't let you feel sad,
I'll hold you tight, I'll make you forget

And now we're together, my comfort in an alien land
- keeping the sorrow away -

though I hold you I just do not understand.

One day in summer, we watched the waning light in the park
- a tiny glimpse of home! -
And yet your mood is wistful, your loss so clear,
I find the answer in your shiver in the dark.

but it's the one thing that I know not how to grant!

This song was first performed live at the furry music cafe at Eurofurence several years ago. I finally got around to producing a studio version.
