I know first-hand just how hard it is to be transgendered-- And just as much scorn there can be (and certainly are!), yes, there are those females who do understand and accept.

I'm trying  to get a few more mama pookas and understanding and accepting people out there with my words and art, the reactions I get to this comic here and other places tells me it has an affect, putting this story in a furry world lets people talk whom otherwise would not,,, its important to me that Puck is in many ways real and has real world problems,  that Puck is not a background character tossed in for color , but an active player whom like Montigo get stronger  and changes as the story goes on, it bothers me when transgender characters are shown only as sex toys,, I want more then that,,,, hugs to you

...Or that we do it for sex, which for most of us, we don't. *nod* (And, FWIW, the other stereotype is that a transgendered male is gay- I'm not!) But yes, for lack of a better term, it's good to show a TG as "human", not just a cardboard fantasy, and the troubles we TG go through, just to get by and be ourselves-- Which is not an easy thing. Even right down to the turmoil we have inside, just because of what we are.

Being gay and/or TG, especially in a culture that can't understand, just yet, is hard. We never asked to be what we are.

no not an easy path to walk at all,,,,,, Which is part of why I have Montigo  in turmoil, fear, confusion,  lust, curiosity, love  finally clicking on the fact he views Puck as female,  pro-nouns are important :)  and fighting  the label of gay,  Montigo see's himself as being a guy whom is in love with a girl, Puck sees herself as being female,  so not gay,,

I have a few friends in furry that are in much the same situation. :)

As for myself, I live and love more like a lesbian than a straight male, so I do indeed understand the distinction.

Right on Habibah backing up the cute puck. Also right on momma pooka for being nice to puck when the others were being mean.

Awesome! It's cool someone finally doesn't care and is treating Puck good instead of hatefully.

I started recently wearing a mini-skirt, and I pondered this matter somewhat. Before I was clearly feminine-looking, but at least wearing male or gender-neutral clothes. Now I added a velvet skirt over pants, and I realized this might have been where the threshold was crossed and imbeciles started commenting. Nothing so far, however. And, people can't really argue I'm not male when I'm peeing in a urinal, hehe.

However, there is a key difference between Puck's situation and mine: I am genderqueer and identify as male unless I'm discussing my psychological gender idenity, while Puck is anatomically a male but asserts to be female generally. So, I suppose it's easier for me to be accepted.
