I believe the picture represents a person you feel like yur holding back and because you love them so much you decided to let them go rather than hold them down and the chains are yourself holding you back..the sacrifice of happiness for yourself if you will for theirs. And the mask obviously is you crying inside..in great pain but you still put on a happy face ..holding everything inside and choosing to deal with this pain on your own.
