Even though it's in image form, this is a little essay I wrote about crediting artists and characters when posting images. Just some stuff I felt had to be said, and I tried to say it creatively.

So here it is. Some might like it, some might hate it, few will actually read it.

Please feel free to re-post this anywhere you like. I feel the word should get around, personally.

This is fine as a write-up, but it skips the most important point of all: make sure you have the okay to do so, from the creator(s). That, again, is a common courtesy... and it applies no matter how big or small a name you are.

As the write-up covers commissioned or purchased artwork directly from the artists, said permission is implied. It's a very rare case indeed where an artist draws for a commissioner and then withholds permission to post the finished work.

In some cases it's the other way around: the artist draws but does not seek the permission of the creator, thinking the creator will just be happy with the work. Perhaps they would be, if the work was for them... which it wasn't.
