After finishing https://www.furaffinity.net/view/1019234/ , an anthrobot about as cuddly as coil of barbed wire, I figured I should also update the look of her much more reasonable counterpart. Jem was created by the Mainframe to fulfill the role of representing the entire anthrobot race as a people, thus giving them a cohesive voice (not easy when everyone is literally doing something different). She's sweet and kind, and not at all what one expects from an army of machines. She uses this to her supreme advantage.

Jem realized early on that she had very little use for the reinforcing properties of metal, and in fact, it hampered her relations with organics. She modified herself continually, replacing components with a soft, pliable, gel-like nanite flesh, held together by certain metal points along the way and warmed by her various heat exhausts. She is known to be quite comical in the face of overwhelming seriousness, as well. She is fully functional.
Fully. Functional.

Fully...functional.  I can understand that if the robots are created by organic beings or once were organics...

But why'd a machine created by machines become capable of copulation?  Or is that an aspect of diplomacy that I've been neglecting all along? Oh please don't let it be so...x.x

Historically, marriage and children have been used quite often as a means to create peace between warring factions.

Yes, marriage is useful between two societies that recognized heredity as a primary means of the transfer of power.  I rather doubt that machines, being capable of repair and technically immortal, would have much luck attempting that technique.

It also served to smooth over the diplomatic process by making the parties family which sometimes worked-  Also, keep in mind, part of her purpose is to hijack our organic instinct for *their* benefit.

True, they may be able to repair themselves, or at least pieces, but what about their "Brain" where their personalities are stored? They may not be able to perfectly copy all that data safely. And the data storage medium probably corrodes given enough time. And as for why it would make itself capable for copulation, who knows. Probably to use sex in diplomacy. Or maybe it was curious. She IS a sentient machine after all, perhaps part of her simply wanted to know what this "sex" thing is, and why some organics seemed to enjoy it so much. Who is to say?

I've always admired the concept behind these characters.  Fun Sci-fi there. :D
