His colors are strangely beautiful to me. Is he an aquatic creature? (sorry idk what a betta is >.<)

Oh yes. They are also known as Siamese fighting fish. This is a blurry photo of my fish that this dragon is based off of: http://i1343.photobucket.com/albums/o793/Zoetrooper/Fi...

Much thanks Kuto! I used to draw animals a lot when I was younger, my interests shifted and now I am revisiting them.

You did wonderful with the overall design and color choices!  I feel like you could add a very light (Still transparent) color on the fins under the neck.  Also I think lightening up the face with a pattern, or even just the eyes, would really make the character 'pop'.  I feel like the eyes get lost a bit.  Adding luminescent on the creature also would be neat, it looks like it was inspired by deep sea creatures. n_n

Awesome design!

Thank you! I had some issues with my layers, but there was supposed to be some transparency/additional stuff going on. I decided not to frustrate myself by trying to tweak it anymore though. Good observation about the eyes, but I wanted to stick closer to my betta's colouring. His eyes are brown. Maybe for future images I will draw them a light blue or something.
