'Damn the man' vs. reality.

A bit more of a serious 'feel good' page. Of all interpersonal relationships Chucky has during college, the one with his flight instructor is probably one of the most important.

Never had problems in school? What secondary school did he went to? (I know he said primary, but really, primary is just the beginning, at least here in switzerland.)
I don't know anyone in my class who hadn't at least one class they were bad in. I was so horrendous in frensh, I almost failled the whole level and actually had to repeat that year... and that because of one class... yes, I was so bad... then again, why did frensh had to matter? it's a stupid language... but sadly a country language here >.>
then again, so is italian and retro roman, but you don't have to pass those in school... or even learn them... luckily.

but yeah, most people fail a class or two, most of the time classes that aren't majour and don't have to be succeeded in, like geography, history, gym(oh, yeah, I failed that too, but didn't matter) or one of the three classes of biology, physics and chemics that form one grade.

He didn't go anywhere special, he was just a very studious skunk. I took French in high school as well and I did not do well in it. I just found foreign language difficult in general. You have to learn French in Switzerland? I never would have thought that.
DraculJOSHI
6 years, 8 months ago
considering almost 1/4 of switzerland speaks frensh... yes, yes we have to learn that shit.

Also, about 1/10 of switzerland speaks italian... one of the reasons it encouraged to be learned in the really high classes.

Oh, and did I mention that we also have to learn english?
so unless you are in a bad class, you are going to have three languages to be learned, german (which is NOT like swiss-german with which we grow up as evident by the fact, that we understand germans speaking, but they don't understand us XD), frensh and english... blergh.

In my opinion... fuck it, learn english and japanese XD

P.S.: If you are bad in geography, Switzerland borders at Frace, Italy, German, Austria and... ehm... Lichtenstein... however that one is called in english

I never knew that. I'd always heard of Swiss-German, and I knew most European countries require learning English, but I didn't know you had such a large French speaking population. Interesting how similar languages like Swiss-German and German can be that much different. I can understand English spoken in most places, but it's hard to understand in the Caribbean Islands.

I wouldn't mind visiting Switzerland someday.

I was good at school too but I allways had to things I not was good in German and gym. But I was really good in English, biology, history and art class.

So keep up the good learning Chucky and you will see you pass next lesson.

Part of his challenge is that he's facing a subject that is physical as well as mental.
wollypegger
6 years, 8 months ago
And to also add that telling him that he suffered a fail there might of negatively impacted the flight back.
Chucky

It most certainly would have. Chucky would have been a wimpering lump.

Hehe, Ian in panel three, pleading his case, soo cute!!
This is the kind of thing that if you can tough it out, make it through it and learn something at the same time, will make you a better person.  Seems Chucky learned a few more things about the world and himself.
Great page!

I love the "reality" your characters have. They aren't just one dimensional! There are oh so many sides to them. I love them all!
Chucky

Have you thought about trying to get
a KickStart project? Your comic would
be a perfect candidate for it since
you have so much material produced
already.
Chucky
6 years, 8 months ago
I've never even heard of KickStart. But honestly I've given up on doing anything more than a webcomic. First and foremost is that I only have time to do what you see me post, and even then I have to get creative sometimes to make time. Second, there was a time when I was printing the first couple issues of the comic. But it turned out that there was not much interest, and it was rather expensive.
KNIFE
6 years, 8 months ago
Understand completely. It would be nice to have all the pages
in one volume but we can actually do that our self. :) I'm just glad
you have the time to show us what you have WHEN you have it.
Always will be too. :D

I wish my teachers were as cool as Ian. Some had come close. Holly even listened to the same music as me, which is not common for someone of her age. Ah reminiscing.
Chucky
6 years, 8 months ago
I take it Holly was one of your teachers.
SkyBlueSloth

She was. Now she's my friend. Not that she wasn't when I was in high school, but that's just it. was in high school
Chucky

That's cool man, all my teachers prior to college were usually decades older than me.
SkyBlueSloth

Holly is decades older than me. She's 3 decades older specifically.

I had the opportunity to test out a United Airlines Boeing 777 training simulator. The instructor set both engines on fire while I was in the middle of a landing. Good times.

ahhh highschool[or what ever equivalent you have in your contry], I remember those days.. I was souch a (ahem) neard in those days. But I do agree on how dificult a foreng language can be. Though I always understood  what some one was implying by thier actions and tone. Ian's a cool teacher.. I wish all my teachers were as kind and supportive as him.

I'm glad Chucky and Ian got together and got back on track
I didn't think either of them would be mad at the other but
it IS an interesting little personality quirk of Chuckies how he
reacts when he loses. That could be interesting in the future.
Also how lvl headed Ian is and how good of a diplomat as well. :D
Always makes my day when your comic appears. :D
Chucky

Thanks! Ian wouldn't do well in his position if wasn't the diplomat.
