Possible redesign of Silk Snare. I might play with the color some more, and the eye to face ratio may need adjustment. Also, I was experimenting with the anatomy. A Lot. I probably won't keep all the changes.
This was all done in SAI. I used a mixture of marker, pencil, water, and ink. I created the image in a gradient, and then I locked transparency so I could manually recolor certain areas. After that, I created a Multiply layer to deepen the color, and I think a Luminosity layer to enhance the highlights.
To liven up the shading, I used cool colors for most of the shaded areas, and warmer colors for the light.
In the gradient draft, all white areas are actually transparent. I used a single color for all the pixels, but depending on the transparency, they appear lighter or darker. This is made easier by using the "paint with transparent pixels" option, available on most brushes. It can turn most brushes into an eraser, while preserving their unique properties, and you can flip it back and forth while you work. Ever want to use a water brush like an eraser? It can do that, and it's very helpful.

There is a checkered box that is right next to the selected color. If you click it, you will paint with transparency.
The marker works by applying opacity relative to the amount of pressure you use. If you press harder over an area you marked before, it will get more opaque. If you apply the same or less pressure, it won't change anything. The marker is very useful for simple shading. But it will smudge other colors, so it's best to only use it on an area that's isolated from other colors.
