brown hyena, sapient hybrid

Character Description
Kerri is a toddler with long, shaggy brown fur covering most of her body, including a short, mop-like tail.  The brown fur tapers off on the shoulders and thighs, giving way to black, zebra-like stripes.  Yellow-brown fur crowns her head and adorns her chest.  Kerri has a wide muzzle packed with short, sharp teeth, giving her cheerful smile an unsettling edge to those who don't know her.  She's always in diapers, although they're often covered by the worst possible fashions.
Personality
Kerri is a happy, extroverted lass who's always looking for a new friend.  She's remarkably resistant to verbal abuse, shaking off the cruel remarks and working even harder to win their friendship.  However, when she finally reaches her lofty breaking point, her rage spares no one.

Welcome to the early design of Kerri Endicott, aka Frisky's coming to terms with hyenas. They're still not my favorite carnivore, but a little research puts a lot of holes in the conventional wis-dumb that they're the scumbags of the Serengeti. Striped hyenas are respected throughout the middle east, and can actually be tamed at an early age. Despite their unsavory reputation, spotted hyenas do most of their own hunting... it's actually the lions that take most of their kills! And the brown hyenas... well, they do eat the meat from rotting carcasses, but hey, somebody's got to do it! People like to kick around scavengers like crows and vultures, but without them, life would be a whole lot stinkier.

Anyway. We've been seeing a lot of hyenas pop up lately thanks to the pioneering work of Rambusk and Tailbiter, and I thought I'd add one to the pile. There are no malevolent mollusks or back-mounted desserts here... Kerri's got her own gimmick. She's the gonk of the Woodland cast, with a winning personality but a face that could crack concrete. The shaggy fur and striped limbs probably won't win her too many beauty contests either, but who in their right minds would make a child that young participate in one?

Oh. Oh yeah.

This is a rough early design, and could stand some tweaks before it's finalized. If you've got any suggestions, I'd love to hear them! Kerri's supposed to have a long, shaggy coat that cuffs at the shoulders and thighs, but I'm not sure if I've made that clear in the drawing. Also, I'd like to drive home the endearingly homely appearance of the character... the really tacky outfits I'll have her wear will help, but I'm sure there's more I can do.
