So yeah, I did a walkcycle with Ace. Why? Because I can. I was trying to make him look like a happy idiot taking a stroll but for some reason while watching it, it kept trying to bring to mind a song. Don't know the tune, don't know the lyrics, so eventually I gave up and decided that it was "I'm Gonna Be" by the Proclaimers just so I could stop thinking about it. It WASN'T the song I was thinking of but it seems to fit as well. I kind of want to make him strut around and sing it, or at least the chorus.
Now others show off their 3D art and that's all well and good but rigging is almost an art in itself. Why does nobody show off their rig? I did. The visualizations are; bones, sticks, wireframe with sticks, wireframe, toon shader with one sun lamp, and finally particle fur with two spot lamps. Is it just me or does it "lose something" in the transition from toon to particles?
Ace's rig is going to be my main rig, easy enough to adjust to most bipedal characters. I finally came up with a method for a hybrid IK/FK system for the arms that I may apply to the spine as well. Actually It's a similar setup as Ace's hands,I just didn't realize it when I was making the hands.
If anyone wants the model/rig to play with it can be found in my models journal on my user page on FA. If anybody wants it and can't get it, let me know and I'll upload a journal for downloads here :)
Critique is welcome!
