No Zipper. And on "Alvin" The "i" head should be Alvin Head. (If you get his name on it)

I don't think we're going to silkscreen anything, so putting on pictures would be tricky I think

That could be cool, or on the back of the jacket which can be bigger and that's where you can put the designs at =p ^^

I would go zipper just because a no zipper should be really big for it to look any good but the picture you have looks great I would buy one of those

I'd get it like the pic above but without stripes or zipper. Pullovers are the way of the future y'know

I love me some asymmetry, but I wonder how that would be done here.
I suppose if you went for a funky zipper design, it might work, but I'm not really sure of the functionality of a zipper that's not just straight vertical. It might look neat if it followed the lines of the A and pouch, though.

I thought about that! Maybe splitting down from the inside of one of the struts of the "A". I'll have to sketch it out

What's the deal with all the zipper hate? Pullovers mess up your hair. Plus they're much more difficult to take off if you've got clothing underneath. D:

Well the little guy originally doesn't have a zipper, so that might be part of it

Keep the zipper, unless you're overweight. If he can't do it, change the zipper out for one of the longer and/or wider ones as found on Aeropostale and AE hoodies. Make sure the draw strings coming from the hoodie are /thick./ No one likes spaghetti shoelace draw strings.

would the wider zipper strip be visually confusing, cutting through the 'A' like that?

I agree thick drawstrings would be good. Not sure what color though

I didn't mean the strip, but the zipper head. Cheaper hoodies use a similar zipper head as pants, which are small because on pants the zipper is supposed to be hidden. You don't want a small zipper head on the hoodie; it looks and feels cheap. Get a nicely shaped metal one.

Okay, mostly ignoring everyone's comments above ... the zipper thing for me comes down to comfort and climate ...

Now I wear hoodies pretty much all year round and the nice thing about the zipper is ... if you start getting hot you can un-zip it ... If you have the pullover type of hoodie then you either have it on or off, no middle ground - however if you don't want the zipper to show its pretty easy to have an extra seam in there with a piece of material that folds over the zip so you have (more or less) the look of a pullover with the versatility of a zipper.

It's true that you can have a folded seam along each side of the zipper that basically hides the track when zipped up. I have a hoodie with such a seam I can PM to you. if you'd like.

What about keeping the zipper but adding a Velcro cloth to pull over the zipper.

Make super long sleeves so the hang down when your hands are not in the pockets.

everyone keeps saying no zipper, but i love hoodies with zippers, i think they are easier to put on imo. i wonder if anyone is actually thinking of functionality, or just what looks good to them. and i think what you have in the pic looks really good.

Looks awesome, I would keep the zipper and the stripes... Is the large A going to be an appliqué of other fabric, the same as the stripes? Maybe have the name "Alvin" embroidered in wide sitich space cursive along a sleeve or the back? I'm sure it will be really cool, no matter the design! I would love to make a Simon one for myself, but I hardly have the time anymore!

P.S. Did you know, in the province of Saskatchewan, a hoodie is called a "Bunny Hug"?!

Zipperless hoodies are way too snug around the neck for me, so I'd advise keeping the zipper unless it really doesn't bother you to have it as a pullover. Everything else looks fine though.
