These were probably one of the cutest, best ideas ever. A reference sheet made for the creatures I have made known as "Flutterboths." If you would like to make a anthro based off one of these, please ask permission first. It'd be appreciated is all to know who is using the designs.

On the left is the Female♀ Flutterboth, and on the right is the Male♂ Flutterboth; no difference except for tail size, which is how the gender can be identified. Also, these creatures are climate sensitive and will adapt when they are kits going through their transformation time, hence why Flutterbun Flutterboths are only found in warm areas and seasons (Spring and Summer), and Lunaboth Flutterboths are only dound in cooler areas and seasons (Autumn and Winter). Plus Lunaboth's have the chance to become "Full Moon" formed if they complete their growth on the night of a full moon. Mind you, this version is VERY RARE. Below is all the info you need to know about the lil' buggers.

Name: Flutterboth (fluh-ter-boff)

Height: 7 inches tall (10 inches with wings included)

Length: 8 inches long

Weight: 2 lbs

Forms:
Spring and Summer Flutterboths are sometimes referred to as "Flutterbuns"
Autumn and Winter Flutterboths are sometimes reffered to as "Lunaboths"

Lifespan: 2 - 5 years ("Lunaboths" will live longer in captivity)

Common Habitats: All about the lands. Flutterboths are common creatures and have adapted to all the seasonal climates, though they will usually reside away from cities and live more to the natural lands. There are times where these creatures will travel to cities to find shelter under a house roof's awning if the weather is terrible

Diet: Both forms of Flutterboths usually eat tree bark and other vegetation. "Flutterbuns" have a much wider variety of their diets since they live in warmer places, where the climate is warm and flora flourishes. "Lunaboths" that live in woodsy Autumn also have much of their diet available to them. "Lunaboths" that live in Winter lands will strictly eat wood since there is not much other vegetation that grows in the snowy land. Flutterboths have been called the "garden pests," since these fluffy flying critters have a ravenous appetite, and sometimes can be seen chewing up gardens

Population: Common; Flutterboths do not keep strictly to one mate, so their numbers are plentiful

About: Flutterboths are rumored to have come down from the Moon when Moon Rabbits appeared on the earth, since these fluffy creatures resemble a cross between a rabbit and a butterfly or moth. A Flutterboth bears about 8 - 12 small, furry offspring that are blind and wingless, relying strictly on hearing. These kits, as the babies are called, are born in trees and scattered about in different trees. It's here that the kits will begin to eat their main diet of tree bark and other vegetation, growing rapidly over the next 2 weeks. A single Kit can strip a whole tree bare in just these 2 weeks! The kit then settles down in a safe nook against the tree and sleeps, where it's body releases a bit of magic energy to develop it's eye sight and wings for travel.

After about a total of a month, the kit is a full grown Flutterboth and will fly away from it's treetop home to travel about. Flutterboth kits will develop their form depending on the climate they're in. In warm, hot climates, Flutterboth kits will grow to be colorful and bright with butterfly-like wings! Their wings design resembles that of Monarch butterflies in our current world. Their ears will also be long and floppy; these forms of Flutterboths are called "Flutterbuns." In cooler, harsh climates, the Flutterboth kit will under go transformations in it's sleep time becoming much fluffier, and it's small ears will become feathery-like antennae. The colors will also be much more pale and it's wings will resemble a Brown Moths' wings in our world, thus this form of Flutterboths are nicknamed "Lunaboths."

There are rumors of a rare time that if a Flutterboth kit completes it's transformation on the night of a full moon, it will be gifted with Luna moth-like wings!! Just note that a "Flutterbun" cannot access colder climates, as it will freeze to death, and vice versa with "Lunaboths" entering warmer climates, as it will die of heat exhaustion. They're very climate and temperature contolled. There is really no way to determine a Flutterboth's gender, as they all appear in the same form, but a hint of this is in the size of their cottonball-like tail. Males have much larger tails compared to the females.

With the magic amount used to develop such important aspects of these creatures, their lifespans are dramatically cut, thus they only thrive for 2 - 5 years. The good news is that Flutterboths reproduce very quickly, and with multiple mates, so there is no lack of these critters anywhere. "Lunaboths" are much more uncommon as compared to their "Flutterbun" forms, since the harsher weather and lack of food also cuts the "Lunaboths" survival rate. In this case, "Lunaboth" Flutterboths survive much longer in captivity and care. Though not many people choose to keep Flutterboths as pets, since they are dubbed the "garden pests" due to their type of diet. Most would rather these creatures did not exist at all for the damage they can cause to crops, homes made from wood, and the environment.

Flutterboths not only have a nasty habit of eating, but they have a bad habit of chewing on things as well, to keep their tiny teeth from growing too quickly! If you were to open a flutterboth's tiny mouth, you would see nothing but 4 very small rows of white, 1 in front, another small row in the back. Same for the bottom of the mouth. If you were to magnify this, you would see itty bitty sharpened teeth that are packed closely together. These tiny teeth are not used to bite or chew, but to scratch and grind tree bark off trees to eat. In a way, their mouths work like a wood grinder. Flutterboths have VERY large eyes, which they use not only to see in the day, but also see at night. They come in possibly any color known to exist. They work like a cat's eyes would, but their pupils are always dialated to take light in. As for the Flutterboths wings, they may not seem big enough to lift their fat little bodies off the ground, yet they actually are. They are fluttered quite quickly like a bee's and produce a soft humming sound when they fly by, though they are sure to avoid areas with water, as they highly dislike it in pure form. They gain their water content though the vegentation they eat. Though they are keen to flying about, Flutterboths can walk on the ground too, or more like "hop" along.

Flutterboths are generally silent critters, but communicate mostly through body language and will sometimes grunt when startled or poked. Though if frightened, Flutterboths will shriek a high pitched "MEEP" and escape as fast as they can. As you can imagine, Flutterboths are abound and plentiful, thus they are common food for many other meat-eating predators.

Flutterboth Communcations:
Blinking one eye first, then blinking the other one afterwards in a "wave" effect = "I really don't care" or "I'm not impressed"
Soft grunting = Hears or sees something and is interested in it
A single, loud grunt and wide eyes = Startled by something and is now on guard or ready to flee
A loud shriek that sounds like "MEEP!" = "I'm scared!" or a distress call. This usually means the Flutterboth will run away after screaming
Flutters it's wings quickly without flying, kicking up the dust off it's wings = "I'm upset with you" or "I hate you"
Twitching ears = "I'm irritated by you"
Nudging against someone/something = "I'm boss around here!" or being in charge and feeling dominant
Licks someone/something - "I love you" or "I trust you a lot"
