So last weekend I happened to come across a drawing of Impmon and decided he was a cute-looking character; he kinda reminded me of Sableye and Meowth, mixed in with a bit of Heartless. I drew a crack pairing with an Impmon in it just for the Hell of it.
Then (because I was that bored) I remembered some of the older Digimon from the very first few seasons and decided maybe I should give the series another chance instead of just assuming it was a ripoff of both Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh.
I made the mistake of watching the first 15 or so episodes of Digimon Tamers this week... aaaaaand now I'm starting to get into it.
Please don't hate me, but I'm probably gonna start drawing them...

Funny little factoid about Digimon not too many know about: It did come out before pokemon. What happened was that Bandai went to Nintendo to publish the game in Japan. After seeing the sales, Nintendo quickly made pokemon in response, then barred Bandai from releasing their games to the U.S. Bandai eventually was able to circumvent Nintendo through the tomigachi, but by then, it was too late as they were branded as a rip off to Americans. If you have a good eye, you can find the original Digimon games for the Game Boy, but no english dubs, sadly.

I dunno; I seem to see a lot of debate over which one came out first, and both sides seem to say things like that and give different dates... Honestly, I don't give half a shit which one came out first. While there are plenty of similarities between Pokemon and Digimon, there are definitely more differences (to anyone who actually takes the time to look at both series and analyze them in their entirety, as I have taken it upon myself to do).
