Well this was certainly the last place Kad had ever thought she would wind up. Madison Square Gardens, in a boxing ring, surrounded by hundreds of boxing fans. She looked across the ring at her opponent Deborah standing near her manager as the manager pressed a guard into her mouth, a veteran of the sport. Definitely a challenge to be taking on in her debut match.

Kad turned her head to her trainer behind her, the well known woman's boxer Sierra and received her own mouth guard before giving a slight nod and moving towards the center of the ring. She stood there until Deborah joined her and then held out her right glove. Upon her opponent tapping it with her own glove, she pulled it back and the guest referee, another veteran of the sport, Hillary, moved away from the two combatants just as the bell signaled the start of round one.

Deborah started off strong and for a time Kad was blocking blows, dodging them, or taking glancing hits. Knowing nothing about Deborah, she took the opportunity to learn how the woman moved, while calculating opportunities to get in a strike. Her opportunity came faster than she thought. Frustration at being unable to land a solid hit crept into Deborah's next strike and she overextended her reach.

Seizing the moment, Kad drew her right arm back quickly and landed a solid blow on Deborah's cheek. Her head snapped to the side and her guard lowered as she staggered back. The sound of the punch echoed through the arena. As Kad withdrew her arm, she knew she still had an opening, but perhaps wisely decided not to pursue it in case she falls prey to getting carried away and expending too much energy in the first round.
