Titanfall 2 Story Part 3: The Path of The Polit

   Chapter 1: First Day
As we walked through the Pilot Training base, we could see things we originally only dreamed of. The wall were covered in war photos and artwork, as well as some lists of fallen pilots. We even walked past what appeared to be a hall of fame showing of the bravest, strongest, most loyal members of the Militia army.
“Oh...my...gosh… this place is amazing! It feels like only yesterday I was dreaming of this, and now I’m actually here! Wait… this IS real right? I’m not dreaming… someone pinch me, please!” Jessica was stuck in a state of awe. I mean, I can’t blame her. Soon we made it to the elevator and started ascending to floor two. As we ascended, we could see the outside training yard where Titans were being tested and undergoing maintenance.
“This sure is impressive… what Titan do you guys think you’ll get? Mine is Legion, one hundred percent!” I asked, looking down at all the Titans.
“Scorch seems the Titan for me… being able to burn everything down, all that power at my fingertips!” Sif replied as we reached the second floor.
“Yeah, while you two are are out in the front getting blown up, I’ll be in the back with Northstar… I’ll probably end up saving both your asses.” Jessica laughed.
“You wanna make a bet on that?” Sif raised an eyebrow. We all laughed until I suddenly remembered our lost comrade, Dom. He was killed in action during the battle on Hossin when we were all just a bunch of grunts.
“Man, if only Dom we're here to see all this, we would've fallen in love on the spot…” I mumbled as silence drew in.
“Yeah, he would've definitely gone with Ion. Saw him reading up on that Titan almost every night.” Sif replied.
“Well, we should make it our goal to become the best pilots this side of the solar system, so his death won't be in vain.” Jessica held her head up. Me and Sif both nodded our agreement.
Finally, after about ten minutes of getting lost, we made it to the room. We all looked at eachother before entering and we ended up in a room full of other newbies. The instructor fell silent for a few minutes before releasing who we were.
“Ah, you must be the new recruits Jack Cooper told me about! Please, come in, take a seat.” The instructor smiled and waved us in. The three of us found three seats in a row around the middle of the room. Suddenly we heard mutters and whispers… the other newbies were talking about us. I could just barely hear portions like “is it really them” and “wow, they are so lucky to be chosen by Cooper himself!”. However, we just remained quiet and tried our best to remain focus. The instructor went off about the general bond between pilot and titan, and how both unite as one to become the most feared war machine in the entire universe. But to be honest, I already new about all that. But I wanted to make sure I never missed anything, so I always kept my focus. Just like Dom always said, this is the REAL DEAL, and you never want to miss a beat.

Chapter 2: There's always “That Guy”
By the time the lesson was done, I had pages on pages of notes all packed in my notebook. And I mean every page I used had barely any room left on it, but I guess that’s just what you have to do. As everyone was packing up and leaving to head to the living quarters, me and my friends realized that we don’t even know where they are.
“Well, I sure in the hell don’t know where they are!” Sif remarked. Jessica just shrugged and I rubbed my chin. We never were really told much else about the building.
“I’m sure there is a map somewhere around here, if not we could always ask the front desk.” I offered. Not like anyone else had a better idea, so the three of us walked out into the hallway to look for a map. As we started wandering, a couple guys from the lesson room blocked our path, they had gruff look on their faces. Their body language also showed they had something to say, stiff, muscular arms and they almost looked like they were bouncing in place, getting ready to fight.
“I beat you newbies thing you're all so special, huh? Being chosen by that Cooper fellow, like the showoff he is. Don’t think that will give you higher privilege than the rest of us,. Sure, you have more combat experience than the rest of us grunts, but at the end of the day, that’s just what we all are, just grunts, testing fate.” His low, menacing voice echoed in my ears. This guy was trying to scare us, teach us a lesson by acting all tough. I’ve dealt with enough of this type to tell.
“Listen pal, first of you can cut the tough guy act, it does not work with us. And second of all, who said we were expecting some special treatment? We did not even introduce ourselves or anything, we just walked in, took our seats, and listened to the lesson. Nothing different than the rest of you.” I replied, keeping my cool. The lead guy raised an eyebrow.
“Funny for you to say that, but watch what you do around here, because you never know when someone’s out to get ya!” He took a hard step towards us, his goons following behind, sending an echo through the hallway. I now noticed that he had at least five of them with him, all in their matching camo get ups… like a bunch of boy scouts. Just by natural reaction, myself, Sif, and Jessica went into a defence stance… just in case.
“Yeah, I could tell ya the same thing, but you're probably two blinded by your own ego to listen.” I snapped. The lead guy just laughed, and shoved past me, giving me a death glare. When they were outta sight, the three of us relaxed a bit.
“I have a bad feeling about those guys.” Jessica scoffed, a annoyed look shadowing her face. I did too, the way they just instantly framed us like that… seemed off. Regardless, we counted down the way we were planning too and found as map on a wall.
“Alright, so we are here… looks like, in the learning district. And the living district  seems to be on the left side, two floors down.” I was never good with maps, as my sense of direction couldn't save my life, but somehow I managed to read it.
“Man, can’t wait to see a bed again… it’s been a long and eventful few weeks, that’s for sure.” Sif heaved, both me and Jessica agreed. We spent a whole week fighting for our lives in swampland, lost a good friend, started our paths to becoming pilots, and almost got into a fight on our first day. I saw we all deserved a good rest.

Chapter 3: Surprise Wake-Up call
Suddenly, we were woken up the the sounds of gunfire and explosions. We managed to find some unused beds in the sleeping quarters, and I damn near fell outta my bed.
“Dear god… what the hell?” I mumbled, getting up. The building was rocked by another loud blast.
“Attraction, all military personnel, compound breach in sector 3-bravo-tango. IMC forced spotted. Respond immediately.” The loudspeaker system blared. Me and my friends all looked at each other, nodded, and got changed, Jesica heading to the women’s bunker to get geared up. Soon after, all three of us ran out of the living quarters, suited up and weapons in hand. As we were running down the hall, we saw a security guard like guy block our way.
“Hey! You three! Yeah you! Listen, we need support on the other side of the building, downstairs. You three are gonna help us! IMC forces are crawling all over the main courtyard down there!” The guard explained.
“Lead the way!” Sif replied. The guard nodded and lead us across the building. We made it to the main doors and outside, security had hard light cover deployed about three feet from the building. We joined them, myself and Sif taking one piece of cover and Jessica joining another guard in another.
“Finally! Some polit support!” One of the guards shouted.
“We are no pilots buddy, not yet.” I shouted back.
“Better than nothing, we need all the help we can get!” The guard beside Jessica commented, crouching behind the hard light cover. I loaded a mag into my Spitfire LMG and took aim, gunning down a fow of IMC soldiers before needing to reload. After I got up to fire again… the fence was broken and there was a Ion titan standing where the fence was…
“Hostile titian! Hostile titan! RUN!” One of the guards screamed as I dives out of the way just in time for a laser shot to melt the cover myself and Sif were hiding behind. I looked over to see that Sif too, had bailed out of the cover just in time. We both got up and I pulled the Thunderbolt rocket launch from off my back. I took aim, the targeting system popping out from the side of the barrel. Before I could squeeze the trigger, I heard a voice from behind me.
“Wait! Before you go ahead and waste a shot, let me weaken him down a bit.” I turned around and saw a polit standing there, we was in the grapple suite and his helmet visor glowed blue.
“What do you have in mind?” I asked him as the titan was busy squishing a security squad.
“Simple, you guys have the little guys and wait for my signal, and blow the cockpit of that thing to hell.” The pilot replied and rushed forward, all on his own. The titan turned to look at him and almost laughed, sending a barrage of plasma fire at him. The pilot jumped, and jumped again using his jump kit. The titan tried to whack him out of the air, but the pilot activated his grapple, attaching to the titans chest and pulled himself towards it. The titan missed and stumbled forward. The polit latched on the titan like a spider on a wall, and rode it out. The titan regained its balance but the pilot had already stuck shatel charges on its chest, 2 in total. He leaped off and hit the detonator, the titan’s chest got blasted open. The pilot landed using his jump hit and turned to look at me, giving me a nod. I still had the launcher out, and fired a blast almost right after he gave me the nod. The blast hit the cockpit and the electric overcharged the titan’s electrical systems, causing it fall over on his back. The cockpit itself bursted open, and out came the titan’s pilot, flying high in the air before landing, making a crack in the ground as he did. Then the two pilots were staring at eachother…. Waiting on who would make the first move.
“All units, IMC forces are retreating! Sweep the area and return to your posts. Polit classes return to normal schedules in an hour.” My radio crackled to life. Our pilot was holding a handgun to the IMC pilot's chest, and soon the rest of the pilots in training and security forces had him at gunpoint.
“Guess you're staying a while, huh?” Our polit laughed. The IMC pilot grunted and held his hands up, two security guards got him in electrical handcuffs and dragged him off. Our pilot walked back, wiping the dirt off his armor.
“Nice shot, kid.” He said to me, taking off his helmet. There was a scratch down the left side of his face, and he had a eye patch covering his left eye.
“Thanks, I guess.” I replied. The polit chuckled.
“What? You scared of me? I’m just a pilot man, you're trying to become one of us. Or maybe you're not much of a talker.” He added.
“Oh, he loves to to talk, believe you me.” Sif commented. The pilot laughed.
“Anyway, the security forces should be able to clean up the mess. You three should head back inside, class starts soon.” The pilot reminded us.
“Right…” we started walking back inside. What a crazy start to the day, am I right?

Chapter 4: Early Christmas Gift
The class was the same as always, learning about the different parts to the Titan… there is a lot of mechanics that goes along with the mark of a Titan. There was also some kind of Gauntlet test that was hinted at towards the end, some sorta jump kit test. Like always, class ended and me and my friends wandered out of the room, not knowing what else to do. As we were walking by, me meet that same pilot who destroyed the IMC Ion this morning.
“Hey, there you are.” The pilot walked up. Me and my friends froze in place.
“Oh yeah, you're the guy from this morning. We never did have a proper introduction, did we?” I asked.
“Your right. In that case, the names Mac.” Mac held out a hand.
“I’m Jet, my friends are Jessica and Sif.” I replied, taking Mac’s hand.
“Alright, with that out of the way, I got something to show ya Jet, follow me.” Mac started leading me away.
“Well, I guess I’ll catch ya later, guys.” I turned to my friends.
“Yeah, we’ll be up in the mess hall when you're done.” Sif replied as we went our separate ways. Mac started leading me down into the Titan bay.
“Why are we heading down here? I’m no polit.” I asked, confused.
“Not yet at any rate, but that’s why you're here. Just trust me, I think you're gonna like this.” Mac replied with a sparkle in his eye. I raised an eyebrow as we made it into the Titan repair garage. And low and behold, the exact IMC Ion Titan that I helped take out was set up on the first repair station, at least 3 engineers were working on it. Sparks and hammers flying everywhere.
“Meet your new future Titan, GT-094432.” Mac patted me on the back. I have to admit, I was practically speechless.
“You… I...what…?” Was all I could mutter. Mac laughed.
“Yeah, after you left you're you're class, they security team was just gonna send this down to the desontroustion bay for scrap, but I managed to pull a few stings. I put in a good word for ya, and before I knew it, here it was, being repaired for our own use. So as soon as you graduate Polit school, you won't have to wait in line to get assigned your first Titan.” Mac explained.
“Wow… I don’t know what to say, I mean… thanks I guess. But I hope I’ll be able to change the loadout, cause Legion is more my speed.” I replied.
“Don’t worry, once you finish polit school, you’ll be able to choose you're Titan’s loadout. You just won't have to wait, like I said.” Mac assured me.
I can already picture it now. Deep in the front lines, the heart of the moment with my Titan, kicking ass and freeing this universe from the treachery of the IMC, one planet at a time. But until then, I got a long couple years ahead of me.
