Cool, but such timing, sega announced they are stopping the archie series sonic comics, which is adding insult to injury to fans since they announced this on the eve of comic con https://gifsound.com/?gif=i2.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/...

I feel this is all ken penders fault with his bullshit greedy lawsuit. I can understand as an artist, but given how he fought hard so a 3rd season of SatAM would never be made (he wanted to do it thats why), just all the stuff he pulled out and the rules that followed really ruined it.

Ken IS a big part of the blame (don't get me wrong, if not for the drama of his lawsuit I believe the comic would still be going on today) but really the ultimate blame lies with the publisher, Archie comics itself. The reason Ken was even able to make his lawsuit was because they had managed to lose his original contracts describing how the rights to any characters he created for the story would remain with them and Sega (a common industry practice, ESPECIALLY with adaptations, sort of like how none of the writers at DC could claim to own Superman for example) and now they couldn't be bothered to keep paying Sega their licensing fees to keep the adaptation going (for THIS I blame a twofold problem, first is that with Sonic Mania and Sonic Forces coming out Sega is anticipating the Sonic franchise becoming much more lucrative and therefore worth more to license...I hope this doesn't cost us the Sonic Boom cartoon too...and second is that Archie is seeing dollar signs with their stupid CW Riverdale TV series, which is HORRIBLE, and they now think they can make plenty of money off that and don't need the Sonic comic's profits anymore.)
The thing is, are the writers and artists for the comic exclusively contracted to Archie? I mean, let's do a best case scenario here, Sega said they are still going to have Sonic appear in comics, and lets say IDW or Darkhorse or someone gets the license. Why not have them hire Ian Flynn and Spaz and Yardley and all the guys who worked on the comic simply continue it? They can even pick up where they left off, perhaps even undo some or most of the effects of the Super Genesis wave and return it to the SATAM adaptation it originally was in the first place? Honestly, that's what I'd like to see the most, just as Sonic kept going even when Sega stopped making consoles let his comic keep going even if it isn't with Archie anymore.

With the results of that lawsuit, there are characters, drawings, situations that cannot be shown anymore. Some of which are related to SatAM designs, plus there is a great hatred for the Dr. Robotnik of the US from Sega and the Sonic creator. Chances are we wont get another SatAM if a new comic comes. Knowing Sega, they would keep their base rules like sonic never loosing, never showing too much emotion, and start a reboot to start things fresh, and never use the SatAM characters again, to have them erased from the minds of new generation fans. Which is rather sad, a reason why I still dont like Sega, just how they do things with their characters and actors.
