Little history lesson for you peeps who like MechWarrior but never dug through the lore. (and I don't blame you) In humanity's future we colonize space, but still have wars using death robots. In an attempt to stop the fighting, the military forces of the universe say dueces and peace out to the outer rim of the cosmos, leaving the dudes closer to the inner part of the Galaxy to figure shit out for themselves.

These people on the inside are called the "Inner sphere" and have very different ideas about how shit should work. Without all their fancy toys thought, they had to re-learn how to kill one another. Enter House Steiner, the Inner Sphere Faction with the biggest and loudest toys. They invented the Atlas for Christ sake, the 100 to 110 ton poster child of MechWarrior as a whole.
(Jk apparently They didn't invent them, they just heavily rely on them)

House Steiner's philosophy of military might through the biggest guns may be intimidating, but they aren't without weakness. You see, most of House Steiner's infrastructure is made out of military personnel. While a good idea on paper, it falls a little flat as higher ups throw their weight unhindered to get the people they like in better positions, and now we get to the major problem.

With big mechs and big guns, it's hard to figure out why you'd ever bother with light mech, surely if you had enough firepower to could solve everything. Thusly House Steiner doesn't properly use it's  light mech, and scoff at their enemies whenever they do so. Well, it turns out size isn't everything, as mobility and tactics have often brought the Steiner power House down without the tremendous show of force House Steiner values.

Despite the ineptatude of Steiner's leaders, they made some pretty tight light mechs. The Commando and the Razorback are well made light mechs, and occasionally a new MechWarrior will fall in love with these lights when first learning to pilot them.

Now, enter the RZK-10T "Razorback" light mech that is equipped to fight from a distance with ER lasers and a snubbed noes PPC cannon, along with some auto cannons for cleaning up. It's armored, armed, and has a freaking jetpack. While noticably slower than most lights, the Razorback takes that Seinter firepower and builds it into a smaller package.

Pretty good, but I can do better. Trade out some of that extra crap for an extra ER laser, upgrade the Snubbed noes PPC for a heavy one, and give it Endo-steel armor and crank the speed up to 110/k then add few more jumper jets, and you've got yourself a proper nuisance. House Steiner may not understand why, but I can personally tell you smaller mechs can be just as damaging to the enemy as a fully armed Assault mech. There's is no bigger pain in the ass than a light mech harassing you from a distance.

"Strudel" is my baby, ready to "poptart" over cliffs and hills to take a pot-shot at enemies to soften them up for the big guys. Not that threatening on its own, Strudel has had all the trolliest paint I could justify in an attempt to convince enemy mechs to break off and chase me. After all, if the enemy is down a heavy mech cause they're after me, then I've given my teammates that much more breathing room.

The Atlas was not designed by House Steiner (they're just the most famous for it), it was designed by Aleksandr Kerensky of the Star League.

Ah, I see. Common mistake, considering how vital Atlas are to Steiner's Battleplan. http://www.fybertech.com/4get/13251444021496.jpg

So are you a Clany then? or just some Merc with like the coolest toy ever?

Yes. To both. :)

If the Blood call for me I'll come a-running, but in the meantime there's no harm in taking coin from anyone else willing to pay for my reloads, so long as they aren't trying to send me against an allied clan.

Sounds fun. Would be interesting to be in a Lance with you old bean. If we are on opposite sides of the firing line though, don't hold it against me if I put a couple holes in that fancy Ferro-Fibrous haul of yours.
