I wanted to try the meme that has been going around twitter for a while.
I tried some new techniques here, and the update of style for Bramble that I've been meaning to make after finishing the comic.

Who needs video games if they have a "joystick"?

How did this meme start out though?

I'm not sure...  It just started popping up everywhere because i follow a lot of japanese artists, but then the meme got also a lot of non japanese artists joining in.  I don't know who started it though.
Here is the hashtag link if you're interested :)

Thanks, I didn't know there were that many!

I love Kamui's face by the way. Bramble has nice upper legs. :3 I'd expect the place to be full however with waiters like this. :D

There is one on the background :)
I was trying new stuff in there, so this time i tried making a very simple background with some elements on it, so it's not just a gradient or blank.
But yeah, i'll have to practice a lot before having a background with a crowd of people, or complex stuff.

I meant the place should be packed with guests. Even 1 waiter would do it, let alone 3. :D
The bg works just fine. You can build additional elements to it.

Personally, I'm studying 3D shapes. Originally I wanted to draw by perspective (using 1 or 2 vanishing points), but it never looked right, yet it was realistic. Then I drew by fixed perspective a bit, and I loved it! Kind of like RPG games, or RTS. Funny how what's technically incorrect looks right, and it's flexible too. I also realised, if I'd learn to draw hyper realistically, I could start 3D modelling with that effort - and that's not what I want.
A real challenge is drawing a perfect cone so far. I read scary stories that it needs university-level math skills. D8

Well... just do what works the best for you.
I never liked the 2 vanishing point perspective drawing because it looks too "robotic", and it works better mostly with inorganic stuff, like buildings.
But it's like the difference between drawing letters in strict technical drawing  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Technical_lettering and just handwritten characters.  Both can look very good when done right.
And yeah, i know artists that render the background with 3D tools and then work from it.  Maybe i should try that.

Thanks for the great input! I guess the best way is to learn the essentials in drawing, and then select what we want to use.

Yeah, some people paint with dots in a canvas, and some other do pixel art.
The point is to find what works the best for you, and practice to get good at it.
You can also find tutorials of people doing things similar to what you want to do, so you don't have to find out all the secrets by yourself from scratch.

Sadly, I'm very unlucky with tutorials. They usually show enough to impress and seem helpful, but almost always lack essential information. For example, I found little to no info about drawing a perfect cone. Or a basic drawing book didn't reveal how to calculate the side lengths of a cube, yet it's just a few more steps. Either they want to make us go to school, or they fear the competition.

Nevertheless, I'm coming up with pretty simple alternatives that seem to work so far.

The damn cone though! (I need it partly by the corona of the human male genitalia. xD)
I mean, I can draw mushrooms, but they're not as complex, lol.
