The Children of the Gods
Story by kunomata
“welcome my child, my name is kiĺaka, please take a seat.”
“Do you know of the four gods of creation? No? then let me tell you; From the beginning.”
“Long ago , before life, their were four lights. These lights were called the stars of life, each were named after their elemental power. Málcor the god star of fire, Aĺtima the star god of water, bĺomae the star god of the forest, and ģiģal the star god of earth. These brightened the world and blessed it with 4 lands divided by their powers. We the bĺoms were cast out from our great promise lands, and force to live on the islands near the void. The void is all that remains of ďalik’s curse the god of nothing. We do not travel past the dark clouds, for if we do, we will become nothing.”
Chapter 1: the village
I remember drifting upon the river banks waiting for the fishermen to return with tonight’s haul for the fest. Todays the offering to bĺomea as she drifted us to the islands we call home now. I am a bĺoms a feline as all of my people. I lived in the north tribe, working on learning to become a priest of our god.
Rim “Todays the day rim, your going to become priest. But.. why do I feel bad.”
All day I have felt something wasn’t right, as if things are not going to work out. As I continued to float I could hear one of the fishermen call out to me.
fishermen “hey rim you better start swimming back, or their wont be any fish left”
I smiled at the fishermen and began to swim towards the shore, but just before I got to the sand I heard a faint roar come from the void. The sound only lasted for a second, so I thought I just had water in my ears. I made it back to shore and helped the fishermen bring in the feast. By the time we got all the fish back to the north village the sun was close fall, and I had yet to get ready. So, I ran off to my tent and grabbed my initiation robe, it was white with a green linings flowing all around it, forming a flower on the back of it.
???? “oh my child, look at how much you’ve grown.”
Rim “Elder kiĺaka, what brings you here?”
Kiĺaka “I wanted to take just one last look at you before the ceremony. Look at you, the priest of bĺomea. Now that’s a title worthy in her name.”
Rim “thank you elder, but something doesn’t feel right.”
She stopped me before I could finish my thought
Kiĺaka “my child, do not threat. For this is the beginning of your new chapter, don’t let the little things distract you from your destiny.”
Rim “thank you elder.”
kiĺaka “now go have fun!”
After kiĺaka left my tent I finished getting ready for the ceremony. I head another person enter my tent
???? “come on sir your going to be late!”
My pal hiplo a rabbit species, her kind are considered a helper class to all the villagers, but are treated as family a lot more.
Rim “hold on hiplo, im still getting ready.”
She hopped over to me and looked up with pouty face.
Hiplo “were going to be late, we need to go now!”
I looked down at her and just started laughing.
Hiplo “ what so funny?”
Rim “you are. you look like a little kid with that face.”
Hiplo “hey! Focus, we gotta go now!”
Rim “ok ok”
I picked up hiplo for fun and walked out my tent. Everyone in the village stood by the statue of Bĺomea, chanting our prayers, as the ceremony had begun. I walk forward to the front of the statue as the priest began the initiation.
Priest “she who has brought us salvation, and guides. She who has gave us refuge on this land, hear our voice. For we wish to bestow your great wisdom down to this boy, so he may lead our children to a brighter tomorrow. May our godess…”
Before the priest could finish the ground began to shake, a loud roar eco through the skies.
Villagers “what is that? Where did it come from? It’s the void run!”
Before I knew it the skies became blacked by the void and a large monster lurked over us. It was as larger the a whale, with tentacles all over its body, ripping apart the skies and ground it tracked. Its face was narrow, with several large eyes looking in all directions, its mouth roared out with a large force pushing everyone back.
I looked around as everyone stood in fear of the creature, the warriors were petrified, and the helpers were ducking down. I got up and yelled out to everyone.
Rim “everyone head to the shores and get on the boat, warriors help evacuate everyone we cant fight this creature!”
Everyone looked up at me like a ray of light, and ram for the shores. I followed along, grabbing hiplo and hopping onto a boat. I looked back at the beach and saw kiĺaka standing up straight, looking at the creature.
Rim “Elder! Run!”
She didn’t move she just stood there. I got out of the boat and ran up to her, hiplo followed along with me. I got up to kiĺaka and tried to pull her to the boats, but she wouldn’t move at all, she just looked at me.
Kiĺaka “This is your story rim, mine has come to its end.”
Rim “grandma… no… no don’t say that! please come with me.”
She just smiled as the darkness rushed over us, throwing me and hiplo far into the sea.
