Most handsome devil... whom I always wonder whether he's as bad as he seems, or just waiting to turn his cheek one fateful day.. ♡ This is lovely.

Haha! I think he's pretty bad! But he's also extremely clever and a born leader who seems to value his teammates to some extent. I think he's probably ruling Moebius comparatively well. Also can picture him getting along pretty well with Sonic, despite his cut throat relationship with Scourge.

...And he's pretty hot too >.> Don't ever get me started on Miles.

Oh, but start you I shall!  xD  Just kidding, there's a lot to love about Miles and he is one of the characters I wish, wish, wish would be given the nuanced, full-blown back story and ongoing character arc he deserves.  One I'd personally like to see cross fatefully with his pure-hearted counterpart.  I don't know if it's a 'guilty' pleasure or not, but I have a deep love of fateful, highly emotionally charged redemption, sometimes also paired with epic self-sacrifice.  Think Darth Vader in Return of the Jedi or Roy Batty in Bladerunner or Severus Snape Deathly Hallows.  Evil or evil-seeming characters who may or may not have fully understood how things came to pass as they did, but at some point question, or are made to question, their motives ever so slightly, in the way a crack in the dam becomes a trickle, a spill, a torrent, a flood washing away the old order for the good of others.  Thing is, I'd never want Miles to actually die in service of such an arc, and having him become his polar opposite -- Tails Part Deux -- would probably cheapen both characters.  Just tempting is all.  I love 'em both.

Bad boys always have a leg up on the heroes in terms of depth, nuance and not showing all their cards.  I find it a HELL of a lot easier to write dialogue for Shadow than, say, Sonic (sorry Sonic, not your fault lol).

Haha absolutely! I love that Miles is bad, but the way I see most good 'villains' is that they're not 100% motivated by evil 100% of the time. For Miles, I think being in control of his own destiny is probably his chief motivation, seeing as Scourge took that control away from all the anti-freedom fighters/suppression squad so violently. I can see him very easily fitting the alignment of chaotic neutral, and so when it suits him, he's able to work with "the good guys" just as easily as he works alongside Scourge.

I kind of feel like what happened in the comic was a redemption arc of sorts for him, or at least a way of proving to himself and the audience that he could not only use his cleverness to overthrow Scourge, but also to rise to the top of the ranks and take the leadership of the Suppression Squad. Unfortunately because Archie is Archie, we only get a half-baked glimpse at all that... and most frustratingly of all, we didn't get to see what happened next because they were never allowed to continue it. Miles was set up to either be a new great threat or a new great ally to Sonic and the gang... but sadly we'll never know. :(

See? See what you did?? Totally got me going. I love Miles and characters like Miles. The clever, morally ambiguous little shits of the world. :D
