And I am one those women. PCOS aka Polycystic Ovary Syndrome is a very common disorder in women. The causes are unknown, but are thought passed down genetically from the mother or father side. Not only chubby women like me, but thin women can get this too. There are no cure, but treatments. If it not treated it can lead to heart disease or diabetes. Also infertility, but it is not completely impossible to get pregnant. Just harder to conceive due to irregular/no periods at all.

Symptoms are:

~Cysts that develop in the ovaries.
~Acne
~Weight gain.
~Depression and anxiety.
~Increase risk of obesity, diabetes, insulin resistance, thyroid issues, heart problems
~Decrease of feminine hormones (estrogen)
~Irregular or no periods.
~Pelvic pains.

If your menstrual cycles is out of whack or gain weight and having trouble losing the pounds. Then please! Please! Go to your doctor and have him/her check you out. You might have it too and not notice it.

I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 14 years old. But I ignored it and thought it was no big deal. Big mistake..... And also for being a dumb teenager as well. I pretended I didn't have it as long I took my birth control. Which helped with the symptoms. My doctor didn't give me very much info on this disorder which kinda make me want to point my finger and blame her. But it was not her fault. It was my stupidity for ignoring it and not researching about it earlier.

I was randomly taking break and decided to research the disorder I still have now. When I found out about not only it can cause diabetes and heart disease. But infertility as well. I was devastated. Also it explains how I got depressions out of nowhere some time to time. I began to lose to hope of not able to have children. Until I remember I am still a mother. Not because I don't have real children. I am mother of my original characters. Which I still call them my children. At least I have them and still nurture my children with my motherly love.

Also I want to spread the awareness of this disorder in art. The butterfly symbolized endurance, change, hope, and life. Most often show that women can overcome this and still be beautiful. The pearls represent the cysts that grow in my ovaries. That why I drew my fursonaself wearing pearls, butterflies and beautiful dress. The color for this awareness is teal. Also the month for this awareness is September just in case you want to know.
