in honor of my writing-turned comic Huckleberry's Hijink, I might as well fill all of you in on certain things.  the first thing is that Strawberry Shortcake and her Berry Best Friends have been around for three decades and in that time, changes have been made to them.  this isn't all of the changes, but the ones from the first and second season of the crew, from kids to older teens (and refs used for the hijink itself) and you can see the obvious changes:

a few notes: Blueberry's hair is still blue, it was just dyed brown; Apple is still the younger member, in addition to being Strawberry's sister (as mentioned before); and Plum had two versions from the original, and is the only character in the series who changed genders

so I put in Orange since I already had her comparison up elsewhere, can you believe in some countries, she's portrayed as a Hispanic girl? she actually debuts in the second part of the Hijinks, and gets truly into it in the fourth part, alongside Lemon, Tangerina and Lime.  speaking of Lime, getting her second season shot took some work, as she only appears in a movie and not in the actual show.

Cherry is one of two girls that grows the most in the series, especially since her character, is a bit older than Apple, something Cherry shares with Apricot.  also, in this current revision, Cherry is a rock star and looks nothing like a fusion of her previous appearances. and lastly, Banana.  I didn't see the episode Banana debut in second season, but apparently, she's a gearhead.... and that original shot of Banana I had to screenpic from the old-school cartoon, so sorry for the blurriness there.  I think Banana comes in around six in the Hijinks, I gotta look at the story again.
