New Kitten #1
This is a drawing of my cat Pixie who died last September. Pixie was 11 years old when she died of Feline Adenocarcinoma. Her last hour on Earth was as painful as you can imagine. She continually cried out in her pain. When I placed her in her carrier to take her to the vet, she died less than 10 minutes later.

Pixie was solid white except for dark tabby markings on the top of her head and ears and her tail. She was as loving and sweet as you could ever imagine an animal being. Almost every time I picked her up, she would turn around and start licking my neck. I have never had a cat do that before. I'm told that cats only do this as a way to show love because it's a form of grooming and grooming is one way that cats strengthen their bond with other cats.

This drawing was done by Yamidog on FurAffinity, http://www.furaffinity.net/user/yamidog/.

Thank you.  My Pixie girl was every bit as loving as she was pretty.  I had her and her sister, Dixie, until Pixie died.  Dixie died at 12 1/2 on 2 February 2018.  I really miss both of my sweet little cats.

I had a very fat black tabby named Tommy. I had him for about 13 years until his kidneys were failing so we had to put him down. Everyone had an animal in my family and that cat was mine. Mean to everyone else. I’ll always miss him.

Last June, I got a cat to replace Pixie.  His name is Buddy and believe me, he definitely is a buddy.  He loves nothing more than to be near me and, preferably, in my lap.  LOL.  He's a very friendly cat.  He loves when people visit so he can spend time with them.

I haven't gotten one yet. I really should. It might be a bit but I would love one just like that.

Buddy, whose original name was Otis when I got him, was about a year old when I got him and my vet told me that he had been a very loving cat towards his original owner.  However, if you get a kitten, you can teach and train him/her to be a loving cat, although each cat has his own personality and even from the same litter there can be different personalities.  Pixie and Dixie had two completely different personalities.  They were both loving in their own way.  Pixie loved to be picked up and cuddled and Dixie loved to lie next to me and be petted.

Well, as I said, depending on the personality of the kitten, you should be able to train the kitten to be a loving lap cat like my Buddy is.  Have you decided on a particular breed and/or color?

No I haven't. Right now isn't the best time for me to care for a cat so I will think about that when the times comes, but I would love a short haired one.

There are many good short-haired breeds.  But, some of the breeds are a wee bit expensive, unless you're interested in the feline equivalent of a mongrel dog or, as we call them in my part of the world, a Heinz 57, also known as an American shorthair.  LOL.
