Arceus figures in an unfinished, abandoned fan-fic where the Heartless are destroying whole worlds. Upon the destruction of the world of Pokemon, Arceus sends a keyblade to - Yakko Warner ! It falls from the stars to land in Yakko's gloved hands. Arceus will later visit him to alert him to the destruction going on across the multiverse. He will show Yakko a possible future with earth rendered desolate & uninhabitable.

Yakko, however, will not have it easy. A Heartless challanges him (the fiend looks like a Sonic hedgehog in a black outfit) and he fights it. Only he can see the Heartless who mocks his efforts. Yakko is now seen as a dangerous lunatic, esp. after he almost smashes Dot's head in his wild swings of the Keyblade. The Heartless laughs at Yakko's plight.

(This was from a pic fragment with text. The completed text ran only 4-5 chapters and the story was abandoned, later removed from fanfiction.net. I really get frustrated when a promising story is just abandoned...)

Here you hint at a divergence. Alternate time lines. I've used such in my fan-fiction.
