Sonic the Hedgehog (8-Bit version) Bonus Stage

Stunts: Main Menu theme

Chatoix: Tachy Touch (2A03)
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (8-Bit): Underground Zone
Unlike the Genesis version of the game, Sonic the Hedgehog for the Master System and Game Gear had Chaos Emeralds hidden within the stages themselves.

So what did you get for finishing a stage with 50+ rings? A more traditional Bonus Stage where you had a limited amount of time to collect as many rings as you could to earn more points as well as chances to earn an extra life and a continue. The stage was the first Bonus Stage to appear in the Sonic series until Sonic the Hedgehog Spinball. (It would've been the third had Sonic CD's Bonus Stage hadn't been scraped.)

The music in the Bonus Stage was nice and... um... "bouncy?" To fit the theme of the stage. :P

i remember the game gear one you are talking about. jesus that game was hard, never made it past the fourth zone.

Yeah, the smaller screen was the problem, you had much less look ahead space. They did try compensating by making the screen scroll sooner when you moved, and by adding signs in a few areas to tell you where to go, even allowing the screen to scroll downwards in Jungle Zone Act 2 so if you fell you wouldn't die, but most of the stages where still not meant for the smaller screen of the Game Gear.

i also foudn the controls very clunky, and the habit of the objects in motion to 'blurr' when they move made dodging things a decent problem.

I don't remember the screen issues as well since it was my cousin who owned a Game Gear and not me. It wasn't until I rented Sonic Adventure DX that I had a chance to play the game again and be more familiar with it.

...And of course, PC emulators once I discovered them. :P

Sounds like a good idea to me. :P I kinda prefer the PSP to emulate handheld games... for an obvious reason.

yeah but i dont have one. i built a rather expensive gaming computer and i feel guilty playing 16 bit games on it.

Can you build me one? D: 16-bit games are about all I can play.

you can actually build a decent gaming computer for a little over 500$. my friend had one that he built for that price before we built ours.
