#22: Mawile

Winner of the grievously mistyped award because honestly, why the hell is this this Steel anything? I can maybe understand Fairy, it can kinda give off that vibe, but Steel? Even in it's description it makes no sense, the jaw doesn't even look remotely metallic and if you delve into the folklore origins of this Pokemon it still makes no sense. There is absolutely no reason (that I can see) which this Pokemon should not be a Dark type. It's entire shtick is being deceptive and luring one in simply so it can kill, not to mention in the original Ruby/Sapphire it learned on a single Steel move naturally yet could learn a large portion of Dark moves! It also just looks plain creepy, that jaw looks like something straight out of a Tim Burton film which is admittedly why I gravitated to this Pokemon in the first place! I say enough of this and to start a petition to officially get Mawile into the typing it was meant to have... not really.

Of course, that's far from the first or last Pokemon to have questionable typing; like why the hell is Gyarados part Flying while it learns no Flying moves? Least Mawile can learn both of it's typing's moves. Regardless I felt it needed a spot here as another shout out to the creepier side of Pokemon that isn't bound strictly to the Ghost or Dark typing, despite the fact that it probably should be. I really wanted to play up the duality of it more by making it super cutesy and the jaw really scary and I think the effect looks great. Mawile falls into another category of having a Mega form that I like some traits of better then the original but not being overly crazy for, so I combined some looks of both and I like the result. Mawile also falls into an odd category for me of really liking it, but never really knowing how to use it, since the typing always really throws me off. It can't really fit into my Dark team although I want it to (I usually do anyway, but ya know) thus I placed it low, can't have all these non-Ghosties taking up the higher spots now can I?
