Ok, I read the whole Animorphs series (except extra books) a bit late, few years ago at the beginning of my college (and found another fellow-fan). It is very cool for portraying the protagonists with a shapeshift skill due alien technology, plus it's quite good and fun in many points.

The ending itself of the series was in my opinion a bit rushed (due ghost writing), not for the proper "ending", but because toward the last books, many secondary characters and subplots got never addressed again or went simply "cut" (like the Yeerks rebels, the auxiliary animorphs, etc).

Comments and opinions are extremely welcome ^^

from what i remember..the auxirerally animorphs...got blown up from the blade ship if i recall..i do remember they don't survive at all. and as for the series..LOVED it, extra books too..and i think applegate even mentioned the ending was cause.. she couldn't see leaving the animorphs nto in some knida fight...and i guess it was a sorta set up for a sequal series if she ever wanted to go into that...i mean...its a MASSIVE cliffhanger i agree.

Oh I know what she said about the ending ^^ But the Auxiliary were introduced late in the series by one of the ghostwriters, and in my opinion they were a cool refreshing idea, just to be completely CUT away in such a bloody episode while they could have received a very small ending and a reasonable use (for example, the Pemalites could have made fake targets for the Yeerks, something not clashing with they program and that they already did).

Also I got disappointed they basically ended the conflict with a pure genocide, while in the series on multiple points there was a reasonable hint that a good solution could have been to find peaceful yeerks that could have lived as symbionts rather than parasites.

as far as i know..the pemalites were dead and the androids they left behind were not called them..unless i'm thinking of something else..and i think at that point jake was soo..deadened to the war he was willing to end it at any cost..and think  about it he had been fighting it for awhile as the lone leader..

yeah the androids, forgot the name, it was "Chee" Xd
And eh.. well... ok, fine, but that's not how to develop properly a story Xd But is not totally her fault as I said. I still think it was the Applegate herself rather than Kacl) that wanted to "end it at any cost" xD I am sorry, if I sound critical, but I have both praises and criticism for EVERY single book I wrote in my life (and there are many Xd). This doesn't prevent me to love a series or a specific book ^^

i'm not gonna lie and say the genocide thing was ok...but i'm trying to get behind jake's mindset too...i mean..i can;t remember if he did that before or after watching rachel die too be honest

I had the complete collection,  all the main books,  the secondary books in the story,  I was part of the official fan club,  everything.  I passed it all down to my nephew a few years ago,  he's still enjoying it I think.

That's cool passing books by generations! I discovered the series only later (at beginning of my college). And while I finished it, I never read the extra/secondary books. I enjoyed it greatly, but with some criticism toward the end.

There are a few details that make the ending better in the secondary books,  but I agree the last four or five seem rushed and the ending was a bit unsatisfactory to me.  I'd almost have preferred it to have been left hanging.

Quite interesting, in italy the publisher never translated the last two books of the main series stating "They adds nothing to the finale" (!!!) while it was quite clearly to censorship for the death of R.
It was only fanmade translation that made it possible to read in our language the last two..
