"Beautiful..."
A young female adult overlooks the city's bright and colour-filled lights through her bedside window. Since her house was in the middle of the Emerald Valley, Lilly was surrounded by a forest but from here she had a good view of Station Square's skyscrapers.
Lilly sighs as she gazes over to a couple holding hands with their young daughter. The little girl was giggling and swinging back and fourth with her mother and father's hands. As they walk past the little girl named Susie stopped and smiled at Lilly. She waves and giggles. Lilly smiles and waves back before watching the trio walk away.
Once the trio was gone Lilly got up from her windowside couch and heads into the kitchen for a before-bed snack. She opens the fridge and takes out a soda and some cookies.
"This'll do."
Meanwhile near Lilly's house a mysterious figure pants as he/she runs, pushing through the trees within the forest. The figure comes to a halt at a wooden bench before placing a small basket down onto it.
The figure pulls off the hood of the cloak that he/she is wearing and sadly looks down at the basket.
"This is it..."
A tiny crying sound can be heard from the basket. The figure who turns out to be a female mobian gently moves the blanket off the top of the basket and smiles down at the little creature inside. The little creature opens its eyes and stares up at the adult mobian, whimpering softly.
"Hush my darling..."
The mobian gently strokes the child's cheek with her finger and bends down before giving her child a kiss on the cheek. The baby mobian weakly wraps his tiny fingers around his mother's finger. The mother grits her teeth trying to hold back her tears.
She looks around before gently placing the basket in front of Lilly's house. The mobian then closes her eyes and turns away. Suddenly the infant lets out a small sob and holds its hands up. The mother walks back and kneels down before holding onto the infant mobian's hands. She smiles softly and nuzzles her child's cheek before speaking to him one last time.
"My precious angel... I know you'll grow up to be a hero one day. Keep safe and be brave for me... mommy has to go. I know you'll make me proud... Sonic The Hedgehog."
The adult mobian rises to her feet and knocks gently on the door before sniffing and running off into the distance. Little Sonic clenches his tiny fists and closes his eyes. He shivers from the cold and cries loudly for his mother.
"Huh?"
Lilly stands up from the chair in her kitchen she was sat on and walks towards the front door. She opens the door and looks to the left and the right.
"No-one...here?"
Lilly looks around for longer and shrugs, turning around and about to head inside.
Soon the little infant hedgehog cries much louder and kicks his legs, still trying to call for his mother.
Lilly gasps and looks down at the source of the noise. She kneels down and gently moves the blanket covering the infant.
"No way! It can't be...!"
Inside the basket Lilly sees the little infant hedgehog shivering and crying out. His cheeks are wet from his tears and his ears are pinned back. Lilly makes an upset expression and gently touches the hedgehog's cheek.
"Hey... it's ok, little one. I'm sure your mother is around here somewhere... in the meantime I'll look after you."
The tiny hedgehog continues to shiver and opens his eyes, staring up at Lilly with a fearful expression. Lilly raises an eyebrow then carefully lifts the basket before taking it inside and placing it down on the couch. She then walks back to the front door and locks it behind her. As she walks to the door the little hedgehog cries much louder and frustratedly kicks his feet, hitting the side of the basket.
Lilly gasps and runs back into the room, she kneels down to see a pair of emerald-coloured eyes staring up at her.
Lilly smiles and gently lifts the mobian placing him gently onto her shoulder. Sonic whimpers and desperately holds onto her shoulder with his tiny paws. Lilly sits down on the couch and rubs his back.
"Shhh... don't be afraid. I promise I won't hurt you..."
Sonic soon whines and nuzzles his head into Lilly's shoulder before gently lowering his head and holding onto her chest. The little infant hungrily tries to suckle off Lilly's chest.
Lilly gasps and blushes, looking down at the little creature.
"H-hey! What are you--?!"
Sonic whines and lowers his ears, desperately trying to find some milk. Lilly soon gets up and walks into the kitchen, she takes Sonic off her chest and lays him back down into the basket.
The little hedgehog looks up confusingly and clenches his fists. He whimpers then lets out a loud and forceful cry. Lilly gasps and quickly looks around amongst the cupboards until she finds a small baby bottle.
"Ah! This'll do. Don't worry little one, dinner's coming!"
Lilly looks around some more before finding a little book. She places it on the table and flicks through the pages. The book she had picked up was a research book. Inside it contained information about various rare creatures, including mobians. After a few seconds of looking she stops flicking through and finds the page she is looking for.
"Ahh here we go..."
Lilly puts the book next to Sonic and smiles at him. The picture shown inside the book has a baby male mobian hedgehog.
"This little one looks very much like you... in that case you're definitely a mobian hedgehog."
Sonic, who was still crying starts to cough.
Lilly gently rubs his ear and reads the page inside the book.
"Shh, I'll need to make sure that this will be ok for you to drink. Lets see... ah here we go. Baby hedgehogs need warm semi-skimmed milk if the mother is unable to feed her young."
Lilly looks inside the fridge and takes out a carton of semi-skimmed milk.
"Here we go! Its lucky I always have this type of milk..."
The infant stops crying and starts to wriggles around inside of the basket impatiently. He looks down and reaches for his foot, he soon grabs onto it and starts to chew on it.
Lilly looks back and giggles.
"Silly baby... I'm sure that your foot won't taste very nice."
Lilly then fills the bottle with milk before putting it into the microwave and heating it up. Soon the milk finishes heating up and Lilly tests it out before gently placing the tip of the bottle against Sonic's lips.
The little hedgehog soon grabs the bottle with his tiny paws and starts to drink at an amazing speed!
"Whoa! Slow down there, cutie... we don't want you to get sick."
