Finished playing through Undertale again a few nights ago (all yellow names in the credits! Wooo!), then this morning in the shower, a pun occurred. It seems so obvious I initially thought someone else must have done it already, but perhaps not.

Also I thought that if you put Temmie and Catbug together they'd have some interesting conversations

Lol, I still ahven't replayed undertale since I got true pacifist...don't want to ruin the happy ending.

I copied the save file over into another folder, saving it forever. That way I can go back later and try for all yellow credits.

Yeah, can't remember where I first ran across it(think e261) but after reading through that one I was absolutely thinking 'Screw you 'official game', you should have been able to do this so this is now cannon'.

Well that shouldn't take you very long, not like there's pile and piles of fanart/fanfics and whatnot everywhere.

I dunno, I kinda respect that you can't save him in-game. Like life, you can't always have everything perfect. Sometimes you have to accept when things are as good as they're going to get.

Plus, if you spare Tori, then go aaaallll the way back to the start of the game, you'll find her there tending the flowers. So I take the interpretation that I don't have to have saved him, because once Toriel comes back there, maybe she will. :)

It just seems that with so much focus on 'Grab the soul to power up and break out' displayed by so many others through the rest of the game would be nice to have the option to give it to goat-boy. "You got the shaft due to the nut-job of a brother you had, here's a second chance. Say hi to goat-mom for me." And it's not like it's even Game Over for Frisk, game lore supports the idea of multiple souls 'sharing a ride', and the comic runs with that idea.

As for Tori as far as I know she had no idea about the significance of the flowers, that one in particular, as science chick who's name I can't remember kept that secret for obvious reasons(in fact I'm not even sure if she knew). In addition if you go all the way back to the flowers just before heading out and ending the game it seems to be pretty heavily implied that there's a very short time limit for goat-boy, as the power of the souls that allowed him to think again is fading and soon he'll be back to his previous form, just another flower, and with Tori completely oblivious to even the possibility... yeah.

True. But also consider this: even though Toby Fox showed astonishing foresight into player choice, this idea simply may not have occurred to him. As an author myself, this is why I have proofreaders, because there's plenty of times when an explosively obvious idea simply will not occur to me. My pals Relee and Zephon are particularly good at seeing my stories from a 'big picture' perspective and spotting things like this. Maybe this idea slipped through the cracks for Toby. Maybe he smacked his forehead the first time he saw a fancomic of it.

Hey, 'a short time' might still be enough for Tori to walk back there to pick up her stuff. And we can also hope that this time, Asriel will get over his reluctance and tell her the truth. If Alphys can, he certainly can too. Sometimes you don't need to do everything for everyone; you can have faith that you've influenced them to make that choice themselves.
