Thanks.

It works for all levels of skill, so if you ever get an urge to try it, it is only five bucks. >:3

What software do you use in the tutorial? SAI, Photoshop, Gimp?

Ah, very good question!  I will have to update the description.

I was personally using Photoshop CS3 when I wrote this, though I have tried CS4 and CS5 and it works, as well as Photoshop Elements (The free version).  It should honestly work in everything back to Photoshop 6 or earlier.

Also, while the button shortcuts are a tad different, and the images aren't going to line up, you can easily apply this to GIMP.  I've never tried Sai though, so I won't say if it it will be helpful there or not.

Hehe.. Gurr! I almost broke the 4000 character buffer on comments, but lost it all with an accidental link-click! I'll try to sum it up. :)

I use Gimp2.0, Photoshop CS3, and Paint Tool Sai to sketch, ink, and color my art. I have to say, sketching is the only really fun part for me. Inking has always been a real headache and a half for me, and coloring always seemed sort've like a chore. I bought this guide hoping it would help me take some of the pain out of inking and coloring to make my life a little easier, and I have to say it worked very well. I already had some experience with some of the topics presented but there was enough information that I learned lots of new things, too, and it was presented in such a way that I wish I had read it years ago when I first started drawing; I would have understood it easily! More importantly, it's given me a lot of confidence to really look at some of the settings and figure out what I'm doing. For only 5$, I think I'm going to get a lot more out of it. ;)

Gah, I've done that same thing to my notes before.  Right pain in the arse.

Thanks for the comment man!  I'm really glad to hear that it was as helpful as I hoped it would be.  I tried to make this tutorial more out of the things that I wished I had known than the basics that you need to start.  Anybody can say "Trace it with the pen tool then stroke the path", but I feel it is much better to know how the pen tool, paths, brushes, and strokes work, particularly how to change their settings.

Looks like Skippy from Disney's Robin Hood.

I think he -might- have been loosely based on him actually, but you would have to ask Mizzyam.  I used one of her sketches for this example.

Either way, nice little promo advert. It'd be even more nice if I didn't just drop $300 on a new mobile...and I knew how to make photos come out of my fingers. :P But still...quite nice.

*Chuckles* The newest innovation from Hewlett Packard!  Finger Printers!  Based on hundreds of years of finger painting technology, you too can create pictures at will. X3

I missed the "reply" button <_<

-cackles- That'd...actually be _really_ neat.... Could be like those shoddy pens that detect where you are on paper and access a database of info by the page and location on it.... but like...on each finger...and with little inkjets. Would give a new meaning to "rub one out" >_>

Anyone know what happened to Mizzyam...?
Krechevskoy

Dunno honestly... Mizzy had been having some really terrible headaches for a long time and been feeling rather depressed, but I don't believe she ever posted an official reason why she has not been active in the last few months.

Hope you, or I, hear from her. Over on FA, she just said she was leaving permanently. I hope we see her again.

I don't draw much at all but I think it'd be fun practicing coloring some sketches I like for my own use ^^

Uhm, seems so cool! Do you have one sample page before I buy? :)
Krechevskoy
13 years, 6 months ago
Hmmm... What would you like to see?  I'd be glad to show a sample.

I used the methods in this tutorial to do pretty much all the art in my gallery, if you wanted to see examples of artwork.  I refined it for about a year and a half before writing this tut, so it is pretty well rounded.

Well, commercially speaking, you should show one of the slides that represents your tutorial the most, should not you?
But if I were to chose: maybe something about the colorization of the outlines/something inside the Shading part of the tutorial? Since I know a lot of tutorials about how using the pen tool and all of that, but yours is starting to get my interest. :)

Indeed, your tutorial seems nice and interesting because it does not seem to be aimed to people who do not know how to draw!

Mkay, here are 4 slides kinda picked at random.

http://i51.tinypic.com/ivfvgp.png

And this tut is for all levels of artists, from no experience, to a lot of it.  If you have never even opened photoshop before, you should be fine with this tut.  On the other hand, artist with a lot of experience have still told me this was helpful.

https://inkbunny.net/submissionview.php?id=11456#commen...

Also, I address coloring your line work, and 3 kinds of shading, as well as a link inside which shows 4 other types of shading as well.

NOTE: There seems to be a disconnect between the third and forth slide.  This is because some of the slides are animated/interactive, and not all of the text is visible here.  It makes a lot more sense when you are viewing the actual PowerPoint.
