You do not know the times I've came across this theme. A story by Ramsey Campbell. A scene in one of the Ice Age films. ...

Spyro being so different is the reason I've never touched the Legend games, and have no intent to. It just doesn't feel like Spyro to me.

I occasionally enjoy alternate timeline nonsense, so the idea of a reserved, introspective Spyro to contrast with the original one doesn't really bother me all that much. I only really like the legends continuity because of the various quirky dragons it spawned though. Everything else I can take or leave. The gameplay is too brawl-y and repetitive for me and the story is too much "apocalyptic prophecy hoo hoo end of the world no fun allowed". Everything is so serious and gloomy all the time, it's depressing. Nothing against trying to tell a serious story, but you need to lighten up sometimes.

In all honesty though: If there is one character who is a complete deal-breaker for me, it is Sparx. They made this guy so incredibly annoying, I don't understand why they didn't pull out a fly swatter after he opened his mouth for the first time.

Yeah, there's a reason why I just stick to the PlayStation trilogy. Well, multiple reasons, one being childhood nostalgia, but then, quality then is quality now.

There's also the fact that it's a set of solid collectathon platformers, and we've been living in an era completely devoid of new games of that type for a good while now. So every time you're craving that particular experience, you pretty much have no choice but to replay the old games.

I am so ready for this collectathon platformer drought to finally end.
