Nick took a week off work after that night sorting thru his feelings and what hed experienced that night, a feral hungry part of him wanted more of this new delight but he filed that thought away for time when he could consider it more fully for now there was a funeral to arrange, letters to send out...he lost himself in the arrangements the little things making sure the send off was everything he knew shed want it to be.
it became more then he meant it to, when word got around others started latching on sooner then he thought it was a service ment for a hero...and he found it fitting, what confused him was how people treated him here he was in his mind no better then a murderer and yet...nobody said a thing about it, hed never paid much attention to predator prey interactions before honestly he was too busy planing his next scam every day to read papers or books on anything not directly needed for such...but apparently what had happened was not so terribly uncommon especialy among highly prolific species like bunnies mice and the like....still it did not ease the hole in his heart after the funeral he deadicated his life to his new job he would be cop enough for both him and judy together he would fill the void in the ZPD that he had created himself...and he did all that and more, over the next 6 years he lost himself in his work cleaning up zootopia figuring out criminals and underworld elements as only someone with his history possibly could he rose thru the ranks of the ZPD like a rocket till he was put in charge of his own unit, but he stayed hands on even then going out and walking and driveing the beat like the other cops...then he received an invite from the mayor to take part in a citywide event, notible figures would be takeing donations for a charity to begin urban reknewal in some of zootopia's more run down districts he could select the place himself...he was never sure why he picked that ice cream stand...was it nostalgia, remembering when hed first met her...he didnt know but it seemed the place to go, part of the events log was gazelles come back tour, over the past years since then her fame had waned somewhat but now she was back and stronger then ever and her image was all over the place at the event, she officaly was the primary sponsor for the charity drive even, nicks place was at the forefront as throngs of people lined up to buy ice cream, to get merchandise with gazelle and his face on it...he wasnt sure when the kids started asking for his autograph but he was never one to turn anyone down...it was mid way into the event when she came up to him, the cutest little lapine, her fur color so similar to judy's own...her eyes glimered a shade of innocent blue rather then the passionate purple she had sported...she held out a notebook and smiled he took out his pen...her pen, the one shed given him so long ago...the record button was gone long ago, only the play/rewind button remained, the last recording...her voice he listend to it now and then her telling him how much she loved him...and not to mourn her...shed recorded it scant hours before hed gotten home that night a last memo to him...one he would never be parted with...he scribed out his name as the girl smiled "Mr. wilde, do you think i can be a cop like you and judy? i wana make zootopia a better place!" he stoped mid scrible as she said those words...even the conviction was so much like her...he smiled and finished writeing it out kneeling down he rubed her head and handed her the notebook back "Little one, this is zootopia...you can be anything you want" she smiled wider and squeaked delightedly huging the journal close...he watched as she ran off to her mother smiling warmly before turning to the next child....
halfway back to her mom something stoped Anibell she felt, odd....like she had a sense of deja vu or a headache or something...she stared at his signature on the notepad as something shifted in her mind...she turned to look at nick and slowly her lips turned up into a coy smile "wait for me nick...." she whispered and then ran the rest of the way back to her mother...as memories continued to flow like water...of a life lived and lost...and now...a second chance...
