The body fur looks OK.

The tail on Surly looks like spikes or quills. Needs to have some gravity effect on it so each fiber is not so strait.

Not easy to control.

Overall, body proportion looks great.

Thanks, I was mostly experimenting different type of fur on them, there is 2 independant groom for the body/tail on both character.

Yes, that I can see. The way the body fur is done looks much better. ^.^

It looks to be set in clumps, and follows the contour of the body quite well.

I think It should be possible to use much the same technique for the tail as well. Make the clumps just a little longer, style it like the body, and you may loose that spike look it has now.

The way the tale is done now looks OK for a distance shot like shown here with Andie.
