A dangerous, unnamed anteater for Goldquiver, one more pantsless themed-commission

I was trying to re-figure out how I USED to make single character pictures because I wasn't very fond of the last few I did, and consequently this looks different.  However, since I am uploading them out of order, I will appear to act in contradiction of that statement in the near future.

Starry Night goes furry.  Superior.

I tend to put swirly skies into these things.  Do you think I overdid it this time?  Most viewers seem not to have known what to do make of this picture despite the subject matter being fairly basic.

Mr. (I am assuming you are a Mister) Frubaklop, if that is your real name, Ha Ha!  Your art is so good that I am breaking a rule communicating with you.  When I say I like something I mean it.  I am a pencil only, er... artist... and I admire talent.  Your work, what I have seen of it, has a dream, nay, nightmare quality that I think just whips ass.  Let me speak in a parable.  The only reason that we use shaving cream is to carry water into the beard.  The only reason for graphic art is to carry the concept into the brain.  Have you seen the work of Gary Larsen?  Probably not the most skilled artist you or I have ever seen, but wow!  is he good.  I think you are something else.  Is my opinion worth anything?  Well, yeah!  It is my opinion, and my taste is the best in the world, at least according to me.  Keep up the good work, I think you are the tops.  As far as the furry verse is concerned, believe you me, this aint my first rodeo.  Very sincerely, Billy Scribbles

I would prefer a neutral title but I qualify for none, and I wish I could be assumed a miss but have the wrong demeanor for it, so the best I can hope for is to not have a title at all.
I am familiar with Gary Larson!  It was not terribly long ago (in my mind, at least) that The Far Side merchandise was inescapable.  It might not be obvious in this gallery, but I like to create bored or non-sympathetic expressions by just drawing lines where the eyes should be, which I borrowed from that.
Thank you for the compliment!  I can manage long bouts not worrying about what a niche section of the internet thinks, but when I draw something specifically to appeal to that niche and miss the mark I question my own ability, but I suppose it happens to everyone.
I have my own fear of addressing people that I think are good at what they do, and it is not good for much.  My fear lets me down on its own far more frequently than it saves me from stepping on a ledge I am destined to fall from.

Very well, Citizen frubaklop!  The bland expressions of the two of your pics I have commented on are very obvious, and intriguing.  As far as missing the mark, I have received hundreds of insults on Googleplus about my own abilities.  If I don't like something I keep it to myself.  Ability in art is the ability to convey exactly what you wish to get across, be it a "Far Side" cartoon or a Fragonard garden delight.  Recently a de Koening and a Pollack painting sold together for 300 million dollars.  Neither one of these conveys any message at all.  But many people think that hype equals talent.  Norman Rockwell, much derided now for political reasons, is one of the greatest painters of all time.  It is true that most of his stuff illustrated a world that really did not exist, he said so himself.  But damn, he was sure got his message across.  I admire pulp magazine covers and comic artists above all.  Frank Frazetta and Will Eisner are like unto Gods to me.  Oh dear, I am wandering.  And I understand perfectly your last sentence.  But you will find stepping on ledges can lead to, well, other ledges! And- I am as internet niche as they get and your stuff is right on target.
