Sumatra is wollowing in memories again, remembering the fun times she had with
her best friend Esthera 8 years ago.
they traveled the globe, visited cool places and took many pictures; this selfie
is one of them.
here they are in paris.

honestly, i don't know how i got the idea of drawing a selfie, but when i thought about it, i was
certain it would give these characters more depth and it would probably be an interesting
experience to see some moments of Esthera's private life, especially because you know her
fate.
it gives her more credibility and it's easier to imagine her having a personality instead of
her being just a piece of meat.

most people enjoy boobs more than story, but it's good to see some people can appreciate and enjoy
background story as well :)

Ah, I remember that series. It was what got me hooked on your art. I'll admit, I love seeing more of her backstory-- and seeing her with Sumatra raises a bunch of questions that totally add some meat (heh) to your universe! Like, how did they meet? Were they, er, involved? Was Sumatra there when Esthera, umm... *clears throat while grasping for a suitable euphemism* ...held her final dinner? Might it have even been Sumatra's idea? Does she feel guilty about it now? Does she regret her actions?
And if she wasn't there, did she ever find out that Esthera had, uh, ceased to be? Did she miss her old friend often? Does she feel like she should have been there? Does she ever think that maybe it should have been her, instead? And if not, does she ever wonder about what happened to her old friend/lover?
I don't know why I think about these things, other than maybe these little headcanon ideas help me empathize more with not just Esthera, but also Sumatra-- I know that canonically, she's a member of the 'Catty Chef Clique,' but I like to think that maybe, just maybe, she has a softer side, that she when she preparing a person she likes, or feels bad for, she tries to comfort them and maybe ease whatever suffering they experience as much as she can.
But then again, it might just be me projecting my own thoughts onto her, and what I said is totally out of character for her. Which is also cool.

Sorry, posted this before I saw the FA page for it. Now I know that Sumatra wasn't there when Esthera... passed on. Still, some of what I posted above is relevant, rather than just the deranged musings of a madman!
I mean, they're still the deranged musings of a madman-- just not irrelevant ones, hopefully. ;)
Also, nice to see some backstory, I always love when artists create an entire universe for their characters, and work to turn their characters into individuals that the viewer can identify with. It's the sort of thing that's all too rare these days.

i'm glad you like it, and i'm so happy to see how many people actually appreciate this picture.
gotta say, i was kinda worried at first people wouldn't care for stuff like this since it's not cooking-related,
but i'm relieved i was wrong :P
as to your questions: there will be a Q&A in a seperate submission where people can ask anything and get
in-character answers :)
so you might want to save your questions until then ^^
