O_o i duno it's kinda hard to gauge the tempreament of something with one big eye surounded by tentacles lol.

Yea, like when the Antartica expedition gazed on the face of the frozen Thing in "Who Goes There?" by Campbell (basis for 2 recent horror films), one said "If that monster was calm, I'd hate to see it when it was ANGRY !".

Of course, the term "Deep Ones" suggests Lovecraft's people of Innsmouth,Mass., and the metropolis of Y'ha-thlei down at Devil's Reef. No end of abominations and horrors lurk there...

it's actually a referance to their habitat. they are sub terainian. but they did end up rather lovecraftesqe being semi aquatic and all. i'm starting to understand how a lot of the cult mythos can actually make sense scientifically... i mean if there was really aliens <_< they wouldn't be stupid enough to use space ships to travel to other planets.

WHy not?

it would be a lot simpler to use dimensional tunneling and gravitational navigation when you wana travel to far off planets. O_o space ships end up having to be immensely over engineered just to keep the occupants alive... then after all that you have to strap on propulsion n all dat other jazz too and figure out how to get enough fuel on to get it places. it's probably the most inefficient way to travel to other planets evAr.

Also only way to get somewhere unless you want to destroy a planet with the singularities needed to create the dimensional tunnel everytime you want to travel somewhere without a ship...and then there'd be no planet when you get there anyway...and even if you contained the singularity it would still be dangerous as fuck...

not so much if you use the principals of bending the space on two points. normally you would need two devices for that (stargates lol) but if you instead use an overlapping gate system you can project matter instantly to an advanced point along the forward axis of the gate. the distance being determined by the energy input of the burst. if you were to beam something into solid matter of course it should likely cause an explosion  so you would probably wana aim to graze the atmosphere of a planet. that way you can  project the second point of your gate to the intended destination and then use the two points to create a stable gate to the new planet.
You would probably have to use a similar yet slightly less potent overlapping gate system to get a gravitational telescope to function too. <_< or you can just build the telescope in space lol, but that would break the plot of the story.

Gates can be easily destroyed or buried though.

true, but not as easily as space ships can be blown up by glorified space pebbles.
I still like the idea of space ships though. nothing cooler than a large flying hunk of engineering, it simply gives my brain a boner just thinking about it.

They are still much more durable than people. If you gate to a world with energy weapons they could just balst away as long as they have power...or block the gate...so you smash into a wall as you exit.

nothing requires you to send a person through, you can still take armored craft through a gate, they just don’t have to be deep space worthy tizall. but unlike the stargates of, well... stargate.. bent space gates connect the two spaces at the event horizon of the gate (no pretty watery stuff or wormholeish tunnel thingies) so you can see and deal with any blockades once the gate is open. it does have the drawback of pressurizing/de-pressurizing the moment contact is established but it’s possible to calculate the pressure you are initially projecting the gate to so you can adjust the ambient pressure to matching levels.
^_^" but since this is all theoretic thumb sucking on my part and I’ve never actually seen if any of this even works… there is a chance that an unforeseen side effect would come once the gate closes in the form of "blowback". as unlikely as this scenario is, i'd only be sure if i actually got to build a gate  lol… but for the purpose of plotline I think the science should suffice.

Unless one end was destabilized. you're talkinbg about trying to "stack" the blackholes. because wormholes are what you get when you link two blackholes. If you do it wrong you just created a larger blackhole that stretches across the galaxy through space-time. Needless to say, this is a very bad thing, because it could either jsut explode or cause both planets to try to occupy the same physical space at the same time. good news is it might propogate backwards and forwards in time and anniahlate it at all points in time. Bad news is if it did that then it would create a paradox...

O_o i don’t really get the theories of time being so static though. the logical assumption would be that while time is subject to variation relative to the location, if you merge the two locations you would simply equalize the temporal flow and arrive at a relative present. even if the present of the target location should be the future of the target location in your present it would be irrelevant since passing through the temporal strata by any means will equalize both the locations present as you travel making any kind of desynchronization impossible also eliminating any possibilities of paradox. O_o i mean essentially rendering each frame of time as a static dimension would be a pretty silly way to make a universe, especially if it’s possible to simply missalign them with mass.

By parodox I meant "how can it anialate itself if it never existed" Of course, the paradox would probably be observationally fixed by said device simply seeming to not work at all. My spelling is messed up today.

but for a paradox to occur, you'll still need to misalign two presents. O_o and i'm not so sure that is possible unless each instant in time was a statically rendered dimension. and even then they would either be independent or probably annihilate as soon as they are contradicted, regardless of why they were contradicting in the first place.

Problem is, time is relative.

I use the term "Joirean Junction" in my fan-fics for such as this. I do NOT go for Star Trek transporters.

The anatomical bits are likely those of the Old Race that colonized Earth in the Beginning, and created the shoggoths. There was a wrongness to the earth and it made the shoggoths clever -and evil. It also is why so many mythos gods are attracted to earth.

lovecraft gave a detailed description of these Old Ones.
