Question for you, my fellow artists. Which color is best when drawing a sketch, blue or red?

I might be wrong, but I think both work fine, especially when you're going to sketch something, ink it, and scan it.  If it's on the right setting, the scanner won't detect the red or blue pencil lines.  To be honest though, I like drawing in both, but it depends on my mood which color I use.

I had no idea that could be done with a scanner, I would like to learn so I can try it. But, what about digital sketches? Some artists seem to prefer the color blue while others seem to prefer the color red. Blue might be softer or perhaps smoother, though.

Yeah, it could be done with a scanner.  That's why a lot of artists use these colors.  It's really a matter of personal preference though.  It won't really affect your art.  The sketch is probably going to be erased anyway after you ink it (if you decide to ink it).  They both work well digitally, but yeah, I prefer blue a lot of the time because, like you said, I think it's a bit softer and smoother and easy on the eyes.  Plus, it's my favorite color anyway.  Just find a color that you're comfortable with and stick with it.

True, this is all a matter of personal preference.

My second favorite color is red, so I use it often when I draw my digital sketches, but I would like to try blue for a while. Experimenting is fun.

Agreed!  Experimenting is what art is all about!
